Read this short thread . . . they are some problems with the demo

i can't d/l it in a timely fashion and my 9800xt is nonfunctional anyway . . . from the thread it seems to work only on Intel CPUs

Considering that applications are usually tested on Intels first. :/

Don't get me wrong, I don't care much for either one... but Intel is still used professionally.

Where did you get that from? AMD CPUs are still based off Intel x86 architecture. They perform the exact same instructions. Or else they wouldn't work with Windows (it was never specifically modified to work with AMDs).

There's a way to get this to run on an AMD CPU most likely, unless there is something strictly for hyper-threading only (VERY RARE). The latest AMDs support all the extensions Intels do now up to SSE3.

I guess you mean the poor 'office' employees who are always stuck with Dell PCs and Intel CPUs. That doesn't make AMD CPUs inept for testing though, so it doesn't make any sense.

Hmm, if they are based off the same architecture, shouldn't you be able to play it by simply modifying a few lines of codes then?

Other than them using Intel processors to test, I see no reason why it's not for AMD.

Yeah...
My guess is Epic sucked Intels you-know-what and added in explicit AMD CPU exclusions...

I was bored and so I downloaded it and tried it. It ran ok and looked good enough but I don't think it will run on most systems. Seems like a waste of technology for such a simple game... people most likely to play this game won't be able to without a new computer.

Guys, relax. It's just a demo. No way in hell are they stupid enough to release this game (which BTW is still a LOOOOONG time off) with only the ability to run on Intel platforms. Especially when most enthusiast gamers use AMD right now anyway. Who knows, by the time Unreal3 is actually gold, Intel might have something out by that time to make you dump your AMD anyway. LOL. j/k. I really have no idea, my crystal ball needs cleaning.
