Unstable 4850?

Here's the deal, I've had this rig for a little more than a year now and it hasn't given me any problems so far. Lately, I've noticed whenever I play CoD4, sometimes the computer would just hang but won't restart. The screen would just freeze but no BSOD. Wondering now if maybe my 4850 has started giving me problems. Overclocked it before, but nothing extreme and those were all tested. While running CoD4 and other games, it's on the stock 685/1000 frequency btw. And temps are normal, hovering at the 40s.

My system specs are below. I've tried running the 4850 on FurMark and it doesn't fail. I also checked my processor if that may be the problem but ran Prime95 and it didn't crash or freeze or anything.

PSU could be losing it's juice.. my pc had same symptoms 4 months after I upgraded to 4850.. fixed it with a new antec sig 650w psu.
My old PSU was a 4yr old antec 500w with e8400+x48 mobo. It was also prime95 stable and passed InteBurntest, but froze furmark after 30 minutes or so..

You should stress test with real time hdr, it crashed a lot faster than furmark

Hey, thanks for the reply. Finally found the problem, Catalyst 9.7 Drivers! Reverted back to 9.5 and games like CoD4 and CoD:WaW run flawlessly again. Whew, for a moment there I thought I had to start buying new parts. Turns out a lot of folks have been having problems with these newer drivers, even the 9.6 ones. Finally learned my lesson, don't start updating drivers if everything works as it should.

Eh? Could you link those threads? i was thinking of switching to 9.7.

All games running fine here, including CoD4, under 9.7, so the problems aren't entirely universal, at least.
