No errors messages or BSOD, just random reboots

Sometimes it will boot into windows
Sometimes it won't
Sometimes it can game for hours
Sometimes it don't

My volts rails are +- 0.2 volts, under load
memory slots 1/2 and sata 3/4

Tried latest drives and msi included
Tried re-install on a normal ATA hard disk

Seem to happen only after installing Nvidia nforce drivers
was booting fine with default windoze ones.
However this is not conclusive since, Id have to -reinstall windows again to test
this, i might have been lucky the first few reboots.

I want it fixed and don't know where the problem lies.

380 watt True power enough? 2 hard disks and dvd writer.
Used to be enoughe for my nforce 3 board and 6800GT rock solid.
Though PSU was getting warm, so i added a second 80mm fan, now
its ok.
Temps are idle about 30 load about 45 which seems fine to me, thats with
fans at 7 volts. 2 X 120 panaflow case fans and 1 X 80mm ys tech on cpu.

I have testing another 430 watt psu on it and problem presistised.

Should i get a lend of another graphics card to test?

Or is it definitly the mainboard, i though my msi neo 2 was rock solid so i stuck with the brand are they not good?

msi quality is good, most of their issues are user related, try running memtest86, check one estick at the time then post any errors here

It's the drivers. I have the same problems (now I cannot get either network port to work or my Audigy2), and it all started after the Nvidia driver install (in my case the latest NForce4 standalone driver). It's a Nvidia issue, not a MSI one, and I find it odd that the drivers include audio drivers? What are they there for?

Make sure you have the latest bios for your motherboard. Random re-boots and hangs would seem to be a PSU, but if your rails are within 2% of rated spec you should be OK.

If it started happening when you loaded the nForce chipset drivers, then obviously there is something going on there. Is this a clean build? or a motherboard change-out without a formatted HD?

If not a clean install, then you might have some leftover drivers I would guess from your previous setup.

So now that I read your post again and pay more attention

I see that you did try another HD with a clean install and you still had problems.

and that you did try another PSU and still had the problems.

It either does not like the ram brand you are using, but I think you are looking at an RMA because it appears you have tried nearly all avenues to solve the problem. The only other thing I would suggest, is make sure there are no spare mounting stand-offs that could be shorting out the board. Sometimes there are different mounting standards even with-in brands.

My first nf4 mb was the neo4 and it was unstable in the same way. I have a 600w enermax dual rail ps so it wasn't a power issue. Sometimes it would boot at half speed, just reboot or bsod on me. I ended up rmaing it for a replacement and in the meantime I ordered a fatal1ty an8 which I'm using now and this board is rock solid stable. I'm going to put the new neo4 in my sons machine this weekend if I have time and I hope that the new board works right. Last time I checked the latest bios was 1.1 and my board already had it when I got it. So far I'm not impressed with msi and I'll be sticking with abit which has impressed me over the years plus I have 3 machines in the house with abit mb's and they've all been good. If the replacement board starts the same crap I suppose I'll rma it as well plus buy an abit an8 for my son.

Same here, does anyone know of any unofficial BIOSes (betas, or whatever else might be out there?)

I didn't do a complete reinstall, but that's my next step (the PSU is a new Ultra 600watt job). Others seem to have started fresh, and it all seems to work until people install the Nvida drivers or play UT2004, or both (me).

Out of curiousity, what is your DVD writer. I had an issue with my new system because of the firmware of the DVD writer, believe it or not. It is a BenQ 1620. Apparently there is an issue when using the BenQ drive with the NVidia IDE drivers; I kept getting random reboots and crashes. Once I updated to the latest firmware, everything was perfect.
