Hooray for being a lowly college student and getting an interesting summer job. I was offered a position at our local youth center teaching various classes in the morning and basically baby-sitting middle schoolers in the afternoon. Since I'm one year shy of having my degree as a teacher, I leapt at the chance since it will be good practice. Last summer, I taught a spanish class for the center, and since I'm on full time staff for the summer, I'll have all kind of different things to teach. Here's the catch: My first week, I will be teaching 4-6 graders the art of CLOWNING.....
I have some ideas so far, such as balloon animals, card tricks, and a day spent entirely on make-up and costuming. This whole thing freaks me out a little since I was hoping to have 1-3 graders to warm up with...the older kids can be brutal.
Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions or perhaps links to sites that can help me in my week-long clown school endeavor?
