Most overrated movie of 2009. It was a predictable movie with bad structure.

My wife and I saw it the other night. We both thought the same thing: it was decent, but no idea why it was nominated for Best Picture.

My wife brought it home from the Red Box last weekend. IMO, it was about as exciting/good as Michael Clayton...a real snoozer.

<----- Called the married part too.

Also, how did he get the address to show up at her house?

the above fixes the spoiler that appears when you hover over the tread title. Ignore.

Thread starts below:

I just watched it on bluray.

wtf happened? It was a romantic comedy,
right up to the part where he shows up at her house and see's she's married with kids. Then it just becomes this depressing pos.
btw I called it.

Hell, Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder saw that part coming way before it got there.

Everything I've read as well as the previews I have seen lead me to believe the movie is NOTHING like the book. Anyone read the book and watched the movie feel differently?

this was a way better movie, with a much better story, acting, chemistry, depth than the hurt locker. IMO, it should have won best picture. i watched hurt locker a second time and i can't figure out why everyone loves it. Is it just because we're in the support the troops mentality?
The Hurt Locker had tension that KILLED, at least for the 1st half-hour or so, Up In The Air had two delicious babes.

No contest for me... The Hurt Locker. (Inglorious Basterds, also rife with tension, second.)

Anyone else think that Vera Farmiga was way hotter in The Departed than she was in Up in the Air? She gain weight or something? As soon as I saw the ass shot in the movie, I'm like, no way that's her.

Great film!
I'm glad that part happened, otherwise it'd been one of those typical films that's been repeating itselft for decades.

This. Watched it last night and really enjoyed it. But had it been a typical romantic comedy where guy gets girl it would have been nothing special.

I'll agree, the Hurt Locker had alot of tension, but so what? so does counterstrike. I felt like i was watching them diffuse bombs on different variations of de_dust. I had no connection to the characters other than that they were US soldiers and that i "should" be rooting for them.

What I like about Hurt Locker was it didnt have a pro-war or anti-war message. It divulged into how they react to life and death situations when they are forced to deal with it everyday. The film was more of a psychological study than a war movie.

I watched the movie and it was decent. The young girl was so cute (btw, she was the cute chick with short hair in Twilight, yes, I did watch it, and the sequel too). LOL @ Sam Elliot as the Captain, big mustach and all.

What? I thought Michael Clayton was fantastic. I thought Up in the Air was decent, but it does show what a weak year for film when both this and Avatar are up for best picture. Bleh.
