I'm in the market for a new phone and I'm leaning toward a galaxy nexus or s2. Are there any upcoming phones that are worth waiting a couple of months for?

The GNex isn't perfect by any means but it will be supported longer past even the phones that will come out a few months from now.

maybe the htc ville and edge . the xperia ion.

and the galaxy 3 whenever it comes out. i am sure it will be a while before those are approved on US carriers etc though.

i don't know if any of those are going to be hugely better than a nexus / s2. i mean the edge is a quad core, and the galaxy 3 will be really fast, but i've read the S3 won't be out until may and then there would be the usual carrier approval delays so that isnt really a "couple months" at this point.

Krait comes out second half this year.

It all depends how long you are willing to wait.

Krait is actually Q2, though it's more a May/June thing I think.

I think the decision is pretty simple, and it really relies on how important LTE is to you. If you are on AT&T and feel HSPA+ is fast enough for you, you can probably safely buy non-LTE phones like the Samsung Galaxy S II and iPhone 4S. However, if LTE is appealing but you demand good battery life, you're going to have to wait for 2nd generation LTE chipsets, and that's Q3 at earliest.

I caution you to avoid any LTE phones that in their teardown are still based on the MDM9600 or other 1st generation LTE chipsets, especially on Verizon. I don't think the battery life is worth the speed, especially when slow CDMA will tempt you to rely on LTE for speed.Future LTE phones are going to have much improved battery life, making using LTE not such a pain.

LTE isn't important to me. I just want a phone that can last two years without becoming laggy. If the S3 is out by June, that would be okay but it would also depend on the pricing.

I'm assuming T-Mobile/AT&T since he said the Nexus and S2.

But yeah, we definitely need to know which carrier.
I'm on TMobile right now but carrier doesn't matter since I'm planning on eating the $200 early termination fee. Long story short, I was on a family plan under my parents account and just recently moved the line to my own account. I previously had a year left on contract and was told that I would still have a year left on my new line after the transfer. But after I went through with the transfer, they told me I had to start a new 24 month contract (with no phone upgrade). I was mad as hell but had no choice in the matter.

Even so, it helps to specify which carrier you will be going to because they don't all have the same phones (Verizon doesn't have the GS2, and has the Droid line).

I pay attention to GSMARENA for the latest news.

So far the HTC Primo has piqued my interest, assuming it does come with a SuperAMOLED screen at under four inches, dual-core processor, ICS, etc.

i somehow doubt itll be super AMOLED. after samsung screwed over HTC with amoled supplies with the desire and the nexus one, they basically switched to all SLCD.

Well, in any event, I will wait for MWC in a few months and see what gets announced. I am sure we'll see those phones crop up before Q3 or so. And of course iPhone 5 will be coming along this summer.

So who provides Motorola with the AMOLED screen in the RAZR?
