I've been talking with people on other fourms, and of course I was led here (can't believe I didn't think of it!). Since I'm not the expert on the new Athlon64's or overclocking, I need some help from the experts.
AMD Athlon 64 3000 S939 CPU - http://www.newegg.com/app/view...amp;manufactory=BROWSE
Heatsink/Fan - NO CLUE! Been recommended many different things
A-Bit AV8 Mobo - http://www.newegg.com/app/view...amp;manufactory=BROWSE
OCZ Performance PC3500 1gb (2x512) RAM - http://www.newegg.com/app/view...amp;manufactory=BROWSE
Sapphire Radeon 9800PRO 256mb/256-bit Video Card - http://www.newegg.com/app/view...amp;manufactory=BROWSE
Seagate 80mb SATA Hard Drive - http://www.newegg.com/app/view...amp;manufactory=BROWSE
LITE-ON 52x32x52x16 CD-RW/DVD-ROM Drive - http://www.newegg.com/app/view...sp?description=27-106-
RAIDMAX 10-bay Case - http://www.newegg.com/app/view...amp;manufactory=BROWSE
Antec 350W PSU - http://www.newegg.com/app/view...amp;manufactory=BROWSE
I'll just go over my selections:
CPU - I chose the 3000 because I decided if I was going to overclock, there was no need to get a 3200 or 3500.
HS/F - Like I said, no clue on this.
Mobo - Not 100% on this either. I've always trusted A-Bit and their mobos never fail me. Although, I have heard around that the MSI Neo2 Platinum is very good for overclocking on the S939's (also has dual channel).
Memory - Many I've talked to agree that this is the RAM to go with.
Video Card - Yes, I've debated much with others and my conclusion was that getting the 9800pro and flashing it to an XT is my best bet to save money.
HD - Seagate is reliable, SATA rules, and I don't need more than 80gb.
CD Burner/DVD - Right now I have no real need for a DVD burner, and really I can't spend the extra money on it.
Case - I don't need anything fancy. The size is good, and I think 2x 90mm fans are plenty for the OCing.
PSU - Antec is the company to go with, and I believe that 350W is sufficient.
So mainly I need recommendations on the CPU, HS/F, and the mobo. I *hope* on taking it to 3800-4000 (from what I hear the new Winchesters can go 4000+ on air cooling alone).
