I've been talking with people on other fourms, and of course I was led here (can't believe I didn't think of it!). Since I'm not the expert on the new Athlon64's or overclocking, I need some help from the experts.

AMD Athlon 64 3000 S939 CPU - http://www.newegg.com/app/view...amp;manufactory=BROWSE

Heatsink/Fan - NO CLUE! Been recommended many different things

A-Bit AV8 Mobo - http://www.newegg.com/app/view...amp;manufactory=BROWSE

OCZ Performance PC3500 1gb (2x512) RAM - http://www.newegg.com/app/view...amp;manufactory=BROWSE

Sapphire Radeon 9800PRO 256mb/256-bit Video Card - http://www.newegg.com/app/view...amp;manufactory=BROWSE

Seagate 80mb SATA Hard Drive - http://www.newegg.com/app/view...amp;manufactory=BROWSE

LITE-ON 52x32x52x16 CD-RW/DVD-ROM Drive - http://www.newegg.com/app/view...sp?description=27-106-

RAIDMAX 10-bay Case - http://www.newegg.com/app/view...amp;manufactory=BROWSE

Antec 350W PSU - http://www.newegg.com/app/view...amp;manufactory=BROWSE

I'll just go over my selections:

CPU - I chose the 3000 because I decided if I was going to overclock, there was no need to get a 3200 or 3500.

HS/F - Like I said, no clue on this.

Mobo - Not 100% on this either. I've always trusted A-Bit and their mobos never fail me. Although, I have heard around that the MSI Neo2 Platinum is very good for overclocking on the S939's (also has dual channel).

Memory - Many I've talked to agree that this is the RAM to go with.

Video Card - Yes, I've debated much with others and my conclusion was that getting the 9800pro and flashing it to an XT is my best bet to save money.

HD - Seagate is reliable, SATA rules, and I don't need more than 80gb.

CD Burner/DVD - Right now I have no real need for a DVD burner, and really I can't spend the extra money on it.

Case - I don't need anything fancy. The size is good, and I think 2x 90mm fans are plenty for the OCing.

PSU - Antec is the company to go with, and I believe that 350W is sufficient.

So mainly I need recommendations on the CPU, HS/F, and the mobo. I *hope* on taking it to 3800-4000 (from what I hear the new Winchesters can go 4000+ on air cooling alone).

umm..a 3000+ will not go that high on air. MSI neo2 plat is the way to go. I have one myself and i defenetly recommend it. I have a 3500+ but i havnt overclocked it yet, im probably gonna wait some time before i overclock.

I went with the FX-53 and the A8v...it is a little more than the Av8 with MANY more features, and I prefer ASUS, as they seem to have quality, and were never affected by the bad capacitor snaffu....the 3500+ looks very good, and so does the 3700+, and if you have too much money, you could get a FX-55, or better yet, pay me to get a 55 and I'll give you my 53....LOL!!!

If you read, I'm tight on money. I just need to know what will do the job.

I'm gonna go with the Neo2 Platinum. Will the 3200 overclock as i expected? Also need to know about the heatsink/fan. I'm hoping not to spend over $40 on that.

first off, I distrust MSI....never find their stuff to be what I expect...I hear support sucks...and the athlon 64 series does OK for OCing, but then again, 100 MHz in an Athlon is like 500 MHz in a P4...

Also, read the reviews of Antec TruePower 480s on Newegg and see what people say about them shooting firballs out...dunno if it does that on 350 watt versions....

My FX-53 overclocks like a champ...got it up to 2600 MHz and stopped there, than took it back down for temp reasons...the zalman cooler (dunno its name, but it looks like a bowl, the CU-9000 maybe) is about $40 and does a wonderful job...getting one very soon...you can go cheaper and get the ALCU version (aluminum and copper, rather than just copper) for less $$$

Get the combo for mwave.com. It's way cheaper $259 for mobo and CPU and they will test it putting the latest bois on there for ya so 939 works.

I'd recommend the 3200 though

PSU enermax 465 from newegg

Get crucial 8t ram also from mwave it overclcks great 250mhz 2.5-3-3
