Source is lacking here. Power consumption data could be a hint to us of what architecture this card is based.

although this is purely speculation, I have a feeling it is just gonna be a gtx 660 rebrand with a more aggressive boost.

I'll say a Maxwell 28 nm part with 768 SP. Which would explain why the % diff with the 960 SP 660 is all over the place; the efficiency gains help in some but not in others.

^ A WFCC link to a link for a site called "tech 2" that supposedly listed it.

It gives a product code that would suggest that not only is nvidia going to launch a new arch before their big GPU event in March, but also that ASUS already has a oc version SKU.

Pretty bad.

If that price is correct, those performance numbers better be wrong.

nVidia did always advertise Maxwell as having 3x the double-precision GFLOPS/s per watt compared to Kepler. Maybe they finally decided to trade gaming performance for more mining/compute performance. D:

I don't think trading it would be necessary, but Nvidia cards being good for mining would actually be good for everyone since it would more than double the number of available mining cards, meaning less shortages and lower prices for all.

But that still wouldn't excuse this. I paid $210 for my 7950!

I checked with other european sites. It seems to cost the same as GTX 650 Ti Boost did here in Europe when it was on the market.

Which makes me question if this really is a Maxwell...

According to someone at another forum, this rumored $225 price includes Hungarian taxes, and the base price would actually be closer to $175. Anyway, who knows. If this is a Maxwell GPU, the most interesting thing to know (other than new features) would be power consumption for this level of performance. The timing and name of this GPU implies 28nm fab. process.

First of all, that wouldn't make sense from a business perspective, since it would risk cannibalizing sales of their profitable $999 Titans (and even more profitable Tesla pro cards).

Secondly, mining doesn't rely on double-precision, or any kind of floating-point at all. The primary reason AMD cards do better is that they can perform an integer rotate in 1 cycle, compared to 3 for Nvidia cards. Fixing that shouldn't be hard for Nvidia, and it shouldn't require sacrificing performance in gaming applications.

Question is, how power efficient this upcoming chip is going to be. The bar has been set high.

Notice that it have 960 cores and a 128bit bus.
The current GPUs that have 960 cores is GTX 660 (192bit bus) and GTX 675MX (256bit bus).
GTX 660 have 24ROPs. GTX 750 Ti have 16 ROPs.

Enjoy!

Whats the price expected to be?

The 650ti has 768 cores and a 128bit bus. So its better than that at least, if its going to be less than ~$130.

A real 3DMark11 comparison with Graphic score and not full score which was posted above.
GTX 750 Ti: 5608
GTX 650 Ti: 4559

If GTX 750 Ti have same power consumption as GTX 650 Ti we are looking at:
Maxwell +23% better performance than Kepler

3DMark11 GTX 650 Ti

3DMark11 GTX 750 Ti

Is maxwell a whole new architecture? It seems like they are doing the same thing they did when they moved from fermi to kepler; More cores, less power (per core). the performance of this particular card is a little disappointing though... unless it's under $100

That is really bad. :/ "Ti" does not belong in that name unless launch drivers make a significant difference. It should be GTX 750 and it should be $99.
