The Pacific:

The Pacific is a World War II television drama mini-series, produced by HBO, which is currently in development. It is the successor to Band of Brothers. Whereas Band of Brothers focused on United States involvement in the European Theater of Operations, the new series will be about the Pacific Theater of Operations.

Preacher:

Preacher is an American comic book series created by writer Garth Ennis and artist Steve Dillon...tells the story of Jesse Custer, a down-and-out preacher in the small Texas town of Annville. Custer was accidentally possessed by the supernatural creature named Genesis in an incident which killed his entire congregation and flattened his church.

Honestly, they all sound great. Cant wait for the pacific and song of ice and fire. Preacher sounds interesting, although I havent heard anything about it really.

Preacher: never heard of it but according to wiki: Mark Steven Johnson has stated that HBO have passed on Preacher and that someone is seeking rights to adapt it into a feature
Pacific: sounds freakin awesome. I've seen BoB 10 times now, was hoping they'd do something new.

yeah... could of mentioned that. I watched the trailer today, seems pretty lame. Nice premise (vampires come out of hiding because a japanese company makes synthetic blood sold in soda cans so they dont need to feed on humans), but the acting and lineup seem meh at best.

ahh, 'true blood' is that vampire show with holly hunter's daughter from 'the piano'. ill give it a shot, but i dont have high expectations. this whole vampire culture phenomenon is just too out there for me. bunch of nutjobs taking a hobby to a whole new level of obsession. kinda like the furries and p.e.t.a. i even see ad's for vampire clubs/shows in vegas!! different strokes for different folks i guess.

Canceled HBO after The Wire went off. Might turn it back on to catch up on Generation Kill when the full season is available On Demand but until Pacific War comes I just don't see the value. They need another "must-see" series like Sopranos and The Wire.

Preacher won't be done anymore, at least not by HBO. You also didn't mention their options on a king arthur series or trent reznor's year zero.

A Song of Ice and Fire is one of my favorite book series of all time - doubt the miniseries could be nearly as good, but could still be surprised. HBO does well with series, usually.

Can't wait for The Pacific! Hopefully it lasts as long and is of the same quality as Band of Brothers.

Looking forward to The Pacific, doubt that SFI will ever see the light of day. It would be too expensive to do it right on a cable budget.

Assuming by SFI you meant Ice & Fire, they just got the go ahead for the pilot, and I don't see how the series would be any more expensive than Rome.

And considering HBO's recently plummeting ratings, I'm sure that they would be happy to open the coffers for a script and screenplay that would bring them back into the spotlight.
