Yawn..

Wake me when an MMO comes out that requires some eye-hand-coordination skill to play.

I was really looking forward to this game until they redesigned it as a twitch rpg/fps hybrid thingy. This game really isn't going to work unless there's some PvP. I've *just* discovered PvP after playing MMOs for years. I see no mention of it anywhere on the main site.

I just read up about this dark and light thing. Sounds like an awesome idea to have it all on one server..but in reality..I REALLY DOUBT this is gonna work. If a huge company like blizzard cant keep their servers lag free I dont see how they coudl do it. Yes i read about the server technology and sure its possible..but we all know that technology always sounds good on paper but things dont always work out they way they are planned. Also this game doesnt seem to be well known. Just by looking at the forums and info about it ...it seems like it could be well put together but they need some marketing guys on this stat.

Also they say realse date is around November 05...last time i checked...thats next month. Their website has some info on classes and stuff but not enough..it seems like if it was this close to release they would have more info out trying to get people excited about it..

It has been done before, EVE is a single server setup. They have had upto 14,000 people on at once I believe.

Eve is a different sort of proposition as, by it's very nature, it's isolated instances with very few people in a single area, and the level of model customisation is extremely low. Also by it's nature, predictive modelling works very well, due to inertia rules on the ships ( i.e. the number of places a ship can go in 1 second given a last position/heading/velocity is very limited compared to a more traditional MMO )

If stations were animated 3d environments with customisable clothing avatars walking around, then it would be a rather different story.

That happens to be my cup of tea... but if PvP interests you, try WoW - everyone on my PvE server seems to love PvP. PvP servers, by continuation of logic, would likely be utopias for PvP lovers.

EVE hit 16k recently.... The hardware their buying to keep their servers going is insane. They just ordered Solid State RAMDrives to power their DB and their switching to dual core 64bit opteron servers.

EVEs new free expansion Kali is going to be amazing once it goes live.

If you really want some skill for an MMO try Lineage 2 PvP. If you know what you are doing you can easily take out people 5-7 levels higher than you (kinda depends on which 5-7 levels).

City of Villains should be out soon. looks like it should be good despite all the moaning on the main forums over the weekend.

I was looking forward to this until I heard it's basically City of Heroes with some different skins and a few new zones. I'll pass.

Hey that was some justified moaning though. It's been a long time since I played CoH, but even I could see from the opening paragraph that that patch was nothing short of all-out nuclear level nerfing that hit across the board.

Might be less of an issue if they've actually implemented respecs now, but it's still pretty gruesome.

depends. if you're in a party w/ 3-4 other archers, and you're an archer w/ bd and sws in party w/ a buff bot (hehe real buffers are rare lol), that party owns. you can potentially take out any opposing party w/ this combo, well, as long as you have higher ground.

<---- used to play, was a SR on kain. i quit because i didn't find a point to the grind, coudln't keep up to those nolife hardcore people, and the community was horrible. always felt like playing with little kids.

How many of those are not just PvE game? How many give you the ability to run your business, to earn money and don't force you to go into quests to properly play the game?

I'm reading some info about Dark & Light ... sounds great ... but will it be a real free movement game? Not just wandering around, but really doing other things than just completing quests?

I really like planetside, but it got old after a few months. I think some company should try the MMOFPS again because if it's done correctly it could bring in players like me who hate the no-skill MMORPGs of today. Even a hack-n-slash game would be cool as a MMORPG as long as you can actively attack/defend. Random dice rolls telling me when I hit and with how much damage doesn't do it for me.

Hardly, the system is screwy and pvp offers very few real rewards. I can't take a single item from my victim's corpse? pah! It's better than nothing though, i guess.

Where are u getting this info about Dark & Light that make it sound great? I just recently heard about it and have read all the info I can find about it..and like i previously said...I think its gonna flop hardcore. There is NO info about it. No official list of classes, abilities, races, nothing about the economy is known. All we know is that its gonna be one huge world on one server....thats cool and all but not enough to get me going. And yes I know..its gameplay..believe me I know..but the graphics dont seem very good and inconsistant. And while I may not care so much...a lot of gamers do.

I just recently started reading up on Vanguard..and damnit..this looks like it could be the one. Its produced by the same people that made EQ1 to me..thats still the best MMO ever made. They have a good company backing them up...they arnt trying to goto fast. They also have a TON of classes and races which is one of the main reasons why i hate WoW...no classes....

I read an article in one of those gaming magazines about a game called Huxley, which is a MMOFPS in development. It "looks" nice but with everything graphics can only do so much.

Isn't EVE Online all one server?

A lot of it is justified. Dumbass Statesman doesn't realize that balance doesn't always mean taking something away, sometimes it means adding stuff as well. Plus they've been ignoring a lot of problems with CoH to get CoV ready for launch.
