It's actually pretty cool...I have hairy arms, so there's a really noticable line where all my hair was burned off and where the sleeve of my jacket protected the rest of my arm. Battle scars.Originally posted by: Evadman
I suggest u shave the other arm so they match
My dad's a doctor, so I'll have him keep an eye on it. The swelling and redness is actually going down in my wrist, so I think I'll be okay. But I'll heed your advice and keep documentation if it gets worse.Originally posted by: galvanizedyankee
From personal experience: jumpr, have your Doctor, at the very least, examine any areas of your body that sustained
any trauma. Two weeks from now there could be numbness or tingling in that hand. Establish a record of examination
to cover future treatment if problems arise.
Marlins post is spot on.
Happy to hear your OK.

Sorry to hear that. I was in an accident at 40mph and the airbags deployed in that. Most horrific instance of my life... you can just see the thing blast open everytime i remember the incident very clearly. It was simply horrific...
That's pretty much how mine went, except I realized that I couldn't steer into oncoming traffic (instead of your thought about pedestrians) in order to avoid the Saturn. I don't remember the airbags going off, but I do remember the jolt of ramming the door of the lady's car. It's not a feeling that I would like to experience again.Originally posted by: Thegonagle

I don't really remember the airbag from my accident, except that it went off.
I just remember thinking, "Oh God! He's turning! STOP! NO! I hope this doesn't hurt!"
The next thing I remember, I was screeching toward him, realizing that, no way, no how, was I going to stop in time, and I can't turn because I didn't check for pedestrians (yes, I've driven in the city long enough that I actually thought that in a split second reaction), and I'm probably still going way too fast to turn anyway.
And then, POW!
A split second later, as the reality of what had just happened hit me, I saw an already deflated airbag, a dissipating plume of steam from my radiator, the right half of my hood folded into an upside-down vee, and a the side of a Chevy S-10 truck a lot closer than one should ever see through the windshield of a car. Bad, bad, bad.
Thanks...I usually get really mad at idiot drivers like the one that I hit today, but for some reason I guess cooler heads prevailed and I was very civil and friendly toward everyone involved. I think I was just thankful I was okay, as this was the first major accident I've ever been in (19 years old, been driving for 3.5).Originally posted by: Riprorin
Glad to hear you're okay, jumpr. You really handled the situation well.
Pauline at 7th St. I was heading west on Pauline, toward Stadium, and the lady who I hit was facing east on Pauline turning left onto Seventh to go toward Liberty, Huron and Miller.Originally posted by: halik
where in a2 did this happen outta curiosity?
If the police officer determines that she failed to yield and she was issued a citation at the scene (which she MAY have been, I honestly cannot remember) then what question is there? I have Allstate to fight for me, and she has AAA insurance. Both good, hopefully honest companies. I don't think there is anything to worry about, but I'll keep your ideas in mind. Keep in mind, her airbags did not deploy, and she was turning left, while I was going straight. I have the right of way no matter what. And my speed as reported to the police officer was 30 mph, which is the speed limit on that road.Originally posted by: freebee
Well, Jumpr, based on your account, this isn't as easy as you think it is. Plus if she is injured (she can claim at any time....think statue of limitations in MI is 2 years for bi), you may be facing a suit....depending on how money-hungry her lawyers are.
Depending on how many lanes, weather conditions, etc....and the part you hit her vehicle is not a good thing. And let me say this again, police officers do not give liability decisions. Doesnt matter what he says.

Well, I'm 19 y.o., so a rental is pretty much out of the question. Also, Ann Arbor has a great bus system and I have a full-fare U of M pass, so I think I'll be all right in that respect.Originally posted by: freebee
Also any out of pocket rental expenses can probably be submitted to the adverse carrier, so dont worry too much about that. Maybe you could retain the salvage vehicle and kinda part it out.

I suggest putting in a personal injury claim against her company also. Most companies will give you a little something for that.

As per your first post you have burns and blistered skin....this can actually be classified as a serious and disfiguring injury...I think its worth of an injury claim, dont you? ...and are you sure you don't feel any pains...maybe a slight soreness in your neck or lower back?....perhaps something that isn't quite right?...
