10% disqualifies you for the $300.00 rebate. the free shipping however does not.

Do you know this from as fact (personal experience, dell told you this), or is this your interpretation.......big difference.

This forum is where we share experience and exchange information about HOT DEALS. I am sicken of people who always give false information here. If this is ONLY your opinion, fine then, state clearly it is just two cents. Don't sound like you are telling a fact or truth.

I've been shopping around for many places online. Based on my experience, using % off or $ off coupons WILL NOT disqualify your rebate claims. Period!

TekDemon - If it's any consolation I would not buy this laptop because:

1) The Dell i2650 sucks compared to the lighter/faster/better i4150.
2) This is the 2650SE and I believe the rebate is only for the 2650. Sure you might get the rebate but then again you might not because of this small technicality.

Technically, the rebate is specifically FOR the 2650SE (and 4150SE, 8200SE, etc). There is a $100 rebate that is for the the other models, but the BIG $300/$400 rebates that makes these deals possible (and hot) are specifically for the SE editions.

I wholeheartedly agree about the 2650 vs 4150. The 2650 is a brick. Read the dell site about the differences before making a decision. I think for ~$290 more (see http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=40&threadid=888098 ) the 4150 is a much better investment.

I'm guessing the SE editions are the exact same as the non SE except produced in a fixed configuration in mass quantities vs. the non SE models which allow customization, and must be made to order somewhat, allowing a bigger cost savings and bigger rebate. Just a guess.

Hi I was wondering if you could not take double memory and knock another $100 off. Also I was watching the staples HP and Compaq laptop deals and others mentioned that you could get an additional year warranty by using a major credit card. I was wondering how this "extra 1 year warranty works" and if it applies here. thanks

Which credit card are you going to use?

VISA, MasterCard or Amex?

Rossman I could use either visa or mastercard. How's the 1500T treating you? Bummer if I knew there was a possibility of a cdrw/dvd combo for the compaq I might have gotten that. How's this deal compare to your? Or I could just wait for the rumored rebate on staples. thanks

My mother in law ordered one of these when the deal was first going around in early September. I called for her last night when I saw the price went down and got her $200 back. It may be worth your while to check into it. The best part of the deal for me is that she is going to give me the entire rebate and $100 because I saved her so much money.

The Compaq 1500T KILLS the Dell 2650 in almost every aspect that I can think of ... I would definitely get the Compaq over the Dell. My Compaq is treating me very nice, I appear to have NO DEAD PIXELS (haven't run that utility yet but I probably will this weekend), it's fast, the display is beyong belief 15.0" SXGA you HAVE TO GO TO COMPUSA and check out XGA vs SXGA side by side to see the difference, the battery lasts around 2 hours 20 mins playing a DVD (I paid the extra $29 for the 66 WHr battery), Last week I bought the SMC 7004AWBR for $70 shipped after coupon & MIR then I picked up a Dell TrueMobile 1150 WiFi card and got it all hooked up last night. I was surfing the web from anywhere in the house without wires, w00t! Compaq 1500T ownz the Dell 2650 without a doubt in my mind.

Compaq has a faster bus I believe.
Compaq offers the cheap, fast, energy efficient MOBILE Celeron.
Compaq offers a 15.0" SXGA which is worth every penny of your $100
Compaq offers TWO USB 2.0 ports
Compaq offers ONE FireWire port
Compaq has a better graphics card, standard ATI Radeon 7500 32MB
Compaq looks bad ass

So far I am totally 100% sold on the Compaq and love it, no complaints yet ... well it would be nice if it were 4 pounds but that would cost over $2,000.00

I know this Dell is cheap but you get what you pay for and so far I have read nothing but complaints on the Dell 2650 and nothing but praise on the Compaq 1500T.

If you can pay with a VISA credit card, here is a link to their Warranty Manager service ... call them, give them your VISA cc and ask if you are eligible for their WARRANTY MANAGER service? My Alaska Airlines/BOFA was not but my CitiBank VISA was, so I paid for my Compaq 1500T with my CitiBank VISA and receive 1 extra year of warranty coverage for FREE on top of Compaq's standard 1 year.

what's the difference between xga and sxga

Put that same question into Google. Then look at the links to see if your question was asked. If not, click on the tab called Groups. Your answer will be found there.....

In my opinion:
14.1" XGA = 17" CRT running at 1024x768
15.0" SXGA = 19" CRT running at 1280x1024 (or x960 if you're anal)

Here's some more specs compare the 14.1 XGA and 15.0 SXGA

It's a world of a difference. I strongly recommend visiting your local CompUSA and comparing XGA vs SXGA side by side.

XGA isn't bad but SXGA is a whole heck-uv-a-lot better.

I just checked the spec on Staples. Compaq 1500T and 900Z don't have the firewire, and they didn't show the USB is 2.0 or 1.1.
Another disadvantage is, in my opinion, there is only 1 PC card slots.

One more thing. 1500T uses Celeron, not so good.

One more thing. 1500T uses Celeron, not so good.

1) Contrary to Staples.com's specs the 1500T does come with one FireWire port, trust me (and the dozens of other AT'ers who bought a 1500T from Staples and can vouch that it DOES come with a FireWire port).

2) Yes only having one PCMCIA port sucks especially if you want to use a 802.11b WiFi card but there is an available WiFi antenna which attaches alongside the LCD display freeing this one precious PCMCIA slot. Personally I have no use for a PCMCIA slot other than for WiFi access so this is not an issue for me.

3) Although it's a Celeron it's no slow poke, it's a 1.40 Celeron-M, very battery friendly (2.5 hours regular usage), low heat dissipation and is cheap ... I'd rather have the Celeron-M than the desktop P4 which comes with the 1500T.

Anything else?

For toyzrs:

You keep asking people to PM you but you must have forgotten to turn your private messaging on. You do that through the profile button at the top of the page. Then you might want to read the Hot Deals Rules (the ones that say please read before posting) and the I wanna rules (they are the first post in the I wanna thread). There are actually some rules concerning coupons and coupon codes in them. :Q
