well I was looking at the overclocking forms and ost of the people who got upto 240 or higher have used the p4b266 and not the one with the c version. So that made me wonder. Also does the pb4266-c suppoer DDR 2400. The website dosent mention anything about the DDR 2400 although it mentions DDR 2100 and 1600

I believe the c version does not have onboard sound or usb2.0

-C has onboard sound and realtek lan optional (both of them are optional), exactly like the regular version.

USB2.0 is on the regular version.

I looked at the manual for the -C and it has the same overclocking options as the normal version. (vcore goes in .025v steps from 1.5-1.750). I wouldn't think there would be a difference in the amount you could overclock the -C versus the normal (but thats just my opinion).

well I think so too that c version or the non c version as far as OCing is concerned they shouldnt matter. But I just wanted to confirm this b4 buying. What about DDR 2400? will the p4b266 support DDR 2400?

duvie tells me that any bord that supports 2100 will also support 2400. But it will be nice to get an confirmation guys. Also is there any real reason to get DDR 2400 as opposed to 2100? I mean will memory affect how much I can OC?

one more difference between the P4B266 and -C is that the -C only has two memory slots. i have right here asus P4B266-C, and an Epox EP-4BDA. they both overclock exactly the same for me. my 1.8A does do around 2.6, with a 146 FSB. i can go higher, but my PSU is crapping out on me, only around 11v on the 12v line. this normally doesn't matter, but the P4 draws power from the 12v.

personally, i like the Epox better, because it has more options, like a 1.85vcore, and higher memory voltage, 2.9v vs. 2.7v on the asus. both are quality boards. antec 400w coming tomorrow, so i should get a higher overclock, especially since my temps are in the low 30's with my watercooling system on it.

hey kevman you should just do a format and clean install...backup first of course...installing a new mobo and using the same HD will cause you a bunch of headaches and your system won't be running at it's full potential with all the leftover drivers

None of the Intel i845 boards "officially" support PC2400 ram. But there should be no problem at all using it in a normal system. It's like using PC133 or PC150 on a system that only requires PC100. The RAM is automatically set to the FSB, and you can adjust manually from there. PC2400 will make sure you aren't limited by your memory, by ensuring you stability up to 150mhz w/ the memory.

There is a program built right into XP called Files and Settings Transfer Wizard, which lets you copy your systems settings (ie: background, the way your folders are layed out, favorites, etc), all of your programs, documents, etc. You can then burn this data on a CD or whatever other kind of backup you wish. Then do a clean format, once you have XP installed, just run the wizard and feed it the data from your old OS. Kinda like a clean format without the hassle of reinstalling and setting all of the settings the way you like.

This was remarkably useful when I was beta testing this OS and MS released a new build every week or two and I had to wipe and reinstall. It makes life a lot easier...

Wow, lots of new P4S333 owners here, glad to see I will have lots of support for mine I received my board last thursday, the memory ratios are a little confusing to figure out what speed the memory is running at when you raise the fsb, 1:1 is obvious, but then there is 3:4 and 3:5 etc, and the available options change depending on the fsb, I am hoping to get to 150mhz fsb and if I do I will leave the memory at 1:1 for 300mhz ddr, wont miss 33mhz that much (would be 333mhz ddr if memory was at 166)

Asus P4B266-C issue,
Two users over OC forum report they have problem with USB port if raise FSB @16x150 or more. But others have no problem.

So far this P4 1.6a chip virtualy guarranty @2.2Ghz or more. Anyone who has this chip and couldn't make it, please report back so that I can update the theard.

I think I'll go for the SIS 645 chipset as well. The comparison to Via & Intel chipsets looks pretty good, and it's less expensive as well! Now which vendor -- MSI, Asus, Gigabyte, AOpen? MSI is the cheapest at Pricewatch - $69, but the others are only a few bucks more. Then I'll get the CPU from and board from mwave (pricematch the CPU to googlegear to save $14), and DDR 2400 Cas 2 from OCZ for $69. Totakl will be $305, incl ship

I want to see more overclocking results on the two before I commit, come on guys, let me know how high you are getting those Asus boards, I want to know if I should get the P4B266-C or the P4S333. I really want to get to 2.4 GHz. Don't forget to post what RAM you are using, cause I have to get some of that too, not sure if I want Crucial or PC2700. I want to order tonight, but I just need to make up my mind on what board and RAM to get.

Ya, i went and sold my t-bird 1.33 and msi K7ta Turbo so i could buy this setup.

i have 2 256 MB of 2400 corsair ram for this, so i guess it's which mb do i buy. also is the 1.8a worth getting? any advantage to it?
