If you can find this in your local office depot, you can purchase it

price match staples, and use the 30 off 150 instore coupon

then get it for cheaper

I saw one of these at one of my local Milwaukee area ODs today. Decided against it since I had some problems with my old HP 200i and already have a Plextor 4x. Still a good deal if you can find one and need it.

Let the Mysticman fix this near info empty post with some real info :light:

Officedepot.com is selling the HP DVD 300i for $149.02, Staples has it priced at $249.99, first order the HP 300i from Staples.com, then wait around 30 mins, then call or use the on-line CS chat help (which is what I did), to have Staples PM the Officedepot.com price.
This deal is already in their system so it should only take a few mins to get the PM approved.

The deal should look like this : Staples price $249.99 - $111.02 (110%) PM to Officedepot.com = $138.97 - $30 off $150 Staples coupon = $108.97 + taxes & NO! rebates.

If the CSR try to remove your $30 coupon tell them nevermind, hang up, then call back and talk to a different CSR.

Why not order from Office MAX with a $30 coupon, then PM to office depot? Considering the $25 gift card offered by OM, this may be somewhat better than Staples.

I just was trying this as you were posting I guess. I wasn't able to get them to price match and give me the coupon. I tried to order the drive with filler to make sure I would be over the $150 even after price match. They said they would either price match with the 115% off or give me the $30 coupon with out the extra 15% (off the 115%) I made the mistake of taking off the filller and going with the extra 15% off because I thought that I would be able to call back and add a few items and then get the $30 coupon. They can't add new items to your order (or so they say), so I am getting the drive for 155.03 with tax (and I still get the $25 GC), but this deal could still work for less I would think.

If it helps any of you OfficeMax priced the drive to $142.49 for me with there 115% deal.

Best of luck!

Just picked up one with a $15 off $50 coupon - out the door after taxes and NO REBATES for $90.36. Thanks to the OP for the heads up!

nero and roxio ez cd creator are both very good softwares, but you'll need a retail version with updated patch to support the drive. oem version will only support the drive it came with and can't be patched for additional drive support.

this is assuming you're leaving the divx movie in its native format and just sticking it on a dvd for playback later on your computer or divx-compatible dvd player.

I know an inventory dump when I see it. Faced with a plethora of multi-format drives rapidly approaching the $100 mark, the HP 300i was looking antiquated and sorely overpriced. HP are often first to the market but rarely hang in for long. Same thing happened with CDRW drives. HP were one of the first with a 6x2x2x drive but after that they were history.

I have one of these drives and like it. Although it looks cheap at $99 I don't believe that it is. Buy this drive now and maybe lose out on the multi-format (inc. HD-Burn) faster (4x RW) drives that will be out for the same price b4 Xmas.
