UPDATE 8/23:is my hard drive messed up? maxtor rma question...

maxtor 40gb 7200. ERROR MESSAGE

I am getting that error message when transferring files. I'm pretty sure it's jacked up, but I ran western digital's drive diagnostic and it said everything was ok. Drive is still under warranty so whatever.

edit/update: I went through maxtor's online rma thing and there is a step that tells you to enter a diagnostic code. You're sposed to download the diag proggie and run it. It will then read out and error code that you enter in to continue the steps to rma. The program did not find any errors on my hd though, so how can I rma the thing? Anyone familiar with Maxtor's rma routine?

hmmm, aida smart says its ok too. AIDA passing

I just tried installing it on another machine and testing transfer. Same result. Think its RMA time.

you can try to do a rma over the phone
