Darn so tempted to get this for an HTPC... Would this work with a DVI input into an HDTV?

I need a little rebate help guys.

I got both the 9100 and the MX200. Both came in white box as expected. The UPC for the MX200 is pretty obvious as there is only one sticker on the box. The 9100, on the other hand, has two stickers on it. Neither one looks like a normal UPC bar code. Which one are you guys sending in?

Thanks.

Well, just ordered the R9100 pci version - should perkup my old 2nd system (at least a little).

Although, for $12 more (including shipping & no rebate) it can be gotten from PriceWatch - hopefully the rebate won't get lost !

Notice the pricewatch dealers show there cards as Radeon 9100 PRO - wonder if there is a diff between the TD and PW cards ? Hopefully not - else $12 extra to get a better version w/out rebate would be worth it !

I would send both stickers. Make copies of everything in case they deny your rebate.

Just my .02 on this rebate issue. All three companies involved are responsible for making sure we get rebates. The retailer, the rebate center and the manufacturer coordinate and agree on how the promotion is going to be handled. One example, VisionTek wants to get their product out to the customer. They work with TD to come up with a rebate promotion. They work out the dollar amount of the rebate, the dates and the requirements. Once they agree upon the rebate deal they contract with the rebate center to process the rebate. The rebate center puts the requirements in their data base so that when they receive the rebate documents from the customer they verify that the customer met all of the requirements. In the case we have here TD is selling a video card that they describe as "Note: Includes driver CD, ships in promotional packaging." This normally means OEM/white box/brown box to TD. This type of item normally does not have a UPC label. If TD and VisionTek don't specify this on the rebate requirements then the customer has a problem. The rebate form for this offer states that a UPC label is required. The people at TD and/or VisionTek didn't put this rebate promotion together correctly so the customer gets screwed. If you consider all of the issues, you, we the customer, come to the conclusion that one or more people at TD and VisionTek did not do their job and set up the promotion incorrectly so they are both responsible. This is becasue you will never know who made this mistake. It could have been someone at TD or VistionTek. They will never tell you who made the mistake. They will just try to blame the other parties involved in the rebate promotiona and push the responsibility back on someone else.

1. Received the card, popped it in, and it seems to run fine, without heavy testing. What's a good, simple test program to run on this card - just to make sure there isn't some hidden gross defect....

2. Weird, though - it seems to block usage of an old PCI video card (disabled in device manager) I installed so I could keep my dual monitor config (2 analog CRT's, had a terrific Matrox G400max dualhead, but had to replace)...which is weird as this PCI card works fine, when it's alone....Ah well, there's always *something* to finagle....but so far I'm pleased with the card, of course getting the rebate is going to factor into this...

3. Oh yeah, someone mentioned that I *CAN"T* use a DVI to analog converter on the 2nd port (hence negating the need for a 2nd video card)..Why not?

Save this address and use it if you run into difficulties with your rebate. I have been in constant contact with Richard about my rebate. Just make sure you copy everything and plan that your rebate will be denied. I got my previous $20 back making the 9100 128 MB just $60 shipped. Very nicely priced for you average-to-good VC.

As for this deal I too received two UPC's on one if the VCs. Just send both. One is good, the other trash. It's just you don't know which one should be trashed.

So far I am very happy with the 9100 as well. I put it in my second system to replace a GF3 Ti 200 64 MB. My 3Dmark2001 score went up from 7615 to 8601 @1024X768. This is a 12.5% improvement. Not at all bad for $30AR.

I also ordered the GF2 MX200 and I have a question for anyone who ordered this: Did you recieve more merchandise in the box than you expected? I did, but was only charged for what I ordered. Free gifts? Screw up? Gross incompetance finally rule in my favor?

edit: Just ran 3dmark 2003 with the 9100: Got a 1236. I was getting a 988 with the GF3 Ti 200. That's a 25.1% boost.

Actually the 9100 is a $40 card /AR when you add the shipping. But still a decent price for that class of card

Is the fan on the Visiontek Xtasy 9100 noticeable or annoyingly loud?

I am mulling over getting a video PCI card for a SFF with a Celeron 800. I will not be upgrading the CPU.

$60 Visiontek Xtasy 9100 128MB (optimistically thinking I will get rebate). The 9100 seems to close to the 5200 in performance and almost half the cost.
$110 Inno3d Tornado 5200 128MB. The 5200 sounds cool because of the VIVO, DX9 and no fan but is $110.

In my opinion it was kind a loud compared to the other fans in my Shuttle XPC - so I replaced it with a passive heat sink from Zalman (ZM17CU) and now it's very quiet (and runs stable).

Well, I've got the AGP 64mb version in now..and I sense *no* difference in noise, but then again, I've got an Antec 1040 with 2 intake, 2 outtake, and a 60mm on the CPU, plus the two in the 420w power supply....so...I think it would take a pretty loud fan for me to notice...

On the "rebate front", I just sent mine out a couple of days ago. I even included a letter in them stating what had been going on in terms of the denied due to OEM white box stickered UPC's..and explained that the UPC's *were* valid, and to contact Richard Wallet if there problems (thanks doinmybestatlast!)

So, maybe..just maybe..that'll speed things up and prevent an initial denial...we'll see...

LOL, you're trying to *reason* with them. I've written TCA twice about a similar UPC problem, once by mail and another via email, plus called them. When they reject because of the UPC code, they will not fix it no matter how many times you contact them. The only way I've had this type of rebate problem resolved is to get the store involved -- and even that took the store several tries to get it fixed on an individual basis (i.e. it fixed my problem, but it's not fixed for anyone else).

On FW, there are already reports that TCA is rejecting these rebates, as expected. TCA = short bus of rebate processors.

Post to pxc:

Where on FW? On every post of the 64 MB ATI 9100 there isn't a mention of this current rebate rejection. I ordered both of these cards September 6th, received the cards on the 15th, sent the rebate on the 16th and I was the original poster. I have never received a reply this quick from any rebate. Maybe you are writing about the 128 MB ATI 9100. I bought that one also and with the help of TD received my rebate. I agree that TCA rebates are not the best, but I have had to contest OM OD CompUSA Staples (rare) CC. I purchase around $3,000 - $4,000 a month online. Rebates are a fact of life if you are trying for the best deal.

.....and the time~! How does a person find the time??
Anyway, I just want to comment on all the great product(s) prices tigerdirect has. Man, I've always read about the poor reviews, bad CS, ect that for 3 years I always passed this vendor by. I wish I would have looked at dointhebest's post earlier though because I'm building a machine for a "friend" for dime and he insists on a 128mb Vid Card. He has no idea what a video card is except all his friends have that "128" & TV out. I don't want to hear any complaining every other week either. You all know what I'm talking about. Thanks for allowing some ventillation. Nice find doinmybestatlast!

So the 9100 will not handle two CRTs? I was about to get this from somewhere else, but I definitely need dual CRTs.

You could get two 9100's if you have the slots. Send a rebate to a family member or friend at another address to get both rebates.

Yes, you could do that. However, it is considered fraud and if you are caught you will be fined (at the minimum). Is that risk worth saving $30?
