Update: Blizzard's Starcraft II and 3 battle chests - now individually available

Update: Blizzard now has the individual battle chests on sale for almost as cheap:

Starcraft chest $10 (!), Diablo or Warcraft III chest $20.

This makes a lot more sense for most gamers who already own other games.

I mentioned there are rare sales, this is one.

Blizzard's Starcraft II; Starcraft, Diablo II and Warcraft III battle chests for $94.99 combo price. Not included is the World of Warcraft.

Their normal price is over $140 for the four.

This is a good deal IMO, if you want these games and don't have them; unlikely.

Diablo II's look at 800x600 is looking pretty dated, IMO.

It's all bitmaps and sprites so any increase is just scaling. It really does look dated but it's still fun.


As far as finding them separately for the same price, good luck. The Diablo battle chest still sells for $39.99 alone.

I think the Lord of Destruction expansion increased the resolution to 800x600.

Yes, thanks, that's what I meant and for some reason I came up with 640x480 (the original game's resolution IIRC). Corrected in the OP - but the comment it looks poor is unchanged.

As far as the pricing, I've had an eye on these for years for no good reason (computer game buying is a hobby), and with the exception of the occassional sale, these games have held their values like almost no others, as someone said Diablo chest still selling normally for $40. I think the larger thing is, who that would want these, still needs the 4?

Nope. Blizzard is still selling both the Diablo II and the Warcraft III battle chests for $40 each. The best price you can get on them new is probably $35 each. Starcraft II is going to be $49.99 at newegg on BF so you could get all 3 for $119.99 at the cheapest.

The deal in the OP is a pretty good deal if you don't have all 3 already.

:EDIT: Didn't see that it includes original SC, so the deal is really good.
