is anyone having this problem where when you charge the battery for a while, or not even that long, it starts to make this constant ringing noise like "beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee"....it gets so annoying i couldn't charge my battery last night because it would annoy my sleep.

No, I don't hear any sound when charging. Have you determined whether it's the charger or the battery that's making the noise?

the noise seems to happen when it's at or near full and has been charging for a while. I'm not sure what's making the noise, as soon as it starts charging it would go "beeeeee..."

and as for the heat...it seems that most of the heat is coming from the left side of the camera

Dell gave me an additional $50 for canceling my order despite my explicit instruction to the contrary, so I got the S200 at $239. Considering that I sold the S110 on Ebay for $340, I'm not complaining about the upgrade at all.

- hey blahsome... what did you have to say for them to give you 50$?? i was arguing with my CSR... haha.... i guess it just depends on who you were talkin to. that's a nice deal though at 239$!!

I didn't say anything! I just told her the order was canceled despite my instructions and asked to reinstate my order. She apologized and said she would deduct an additional $50 and keep an eye on the new order to ensure an expedited delievery as soon as the camera becomes in stock.

All I had to say was "thank you."

My Canon S200 battery just charged for the first time, damn it was fast (prob because it is already charged a little).

Now time to screw around and play with this.

DAMN THIS THING IS TINY! SMALL! TINY! SMALL! MICRO!

Played with it earlier but somehow, I can't get it to focus properly when I'm too near to the object. I can't read the words when I'm close to a book.

How do I check what's the battery life of this thing?? Am I suppose to estimate it??

yeah im having trouble taking closeup of pictures........i know that the "flower" icon is for closeups...but it helps only a little, when i take it too close the light whites out the screen and if i turn off the light it's too dark or gets blurry...(i need to read the manual a little more)

we should start a thread for picture taking techniques with the canon s200 or sumtin........i cant take pictures up close very well....i dont know how some of you guys take nice shots up close of flowers....they turn out all blurry for me(even when i turn on macromode or whatever) and i cant take pictures of small print on books

btw what's the diff between a low iso speed of 50 and a higher iso speed of 150? in the manual it just says higher iso speeds increase image noise meaning what exactly?

i think you have to play with the manual features: exposure, etc... to get better up-close shots - i KINDA got a better focus of text from books/papers after playing around a little bit with some of the manual features --- make sure you make use of pressing the shutter button half-way down to focus in on things as well.

yes, yes, it's true: the canon elphs are HORRIBLE at macro. the macro range is 6inches to 2.5feet while some nikons can do it within an inch.

anytime you are within 2.5feet--zoom or not--use the "flower" mode. it helps some.

anyways, i don't take many macro pics so i don't really care.

Yeah I'm disappointed with the quality of the close up pics. Kinda blurry. Hopefully those settings will fix this some...

Well, one thing I did notice is that in Evaluative Light Metering mode, this thing takes like a full 2 seconds to take a picture after you press the shutter(?) button. Although this focus method seeems to be the best, 2 seconds is way too long. It is much faster in Spot AE Point light metering mode.

Anybody else notice this, or find any other settings that decrease the lag on snapping photos?

<< wow ls20, these pictures are from the s200? >>

they're from the s330. but, from the pictures that ive seen, the s200 and s330 is identical. though i had to turn up the contrast in the b&w picture in photoshop to emulate the silverish quality of 35mm film.

rpr: my focusing is not slow at all. it's not instantaneous, but it's fast. maybe you have the metering squares pointed at difficult objects (glass, mirrors?) for the camera to calculte the focal point?

I just took some close-up of some salad and it is blurry..... I know my S110 shots were razor sharp is it just me or am doing something wrong?
The ASA is set to 50. Maybe I should crank that up?

LS20: Are you sure you have it set to Evaluative Light Metering mode. And you have no significant delay?

If so, I may be looking at an RMA. Wonderful...maybe I'll get a replacement from Dell before the new year.

Has anybody taken some motion pics with the F-stop at the lowest possible setting? f2.7 is fastest from what I can remember. If so, I'd really like to see how they turned out. I'd really love to take this out to Pismo Beach and take pictures of all the trucks rolling over.

Yes, on Auto mode, I do believe the multi-matrix focusing and Evaluative meter are both on by default.

Dukeofanandtech: I *think* that the camera has only 2 aperture available at each focal length--similar to the a20/a40 (except taht theirs is selectable). Then, the shutter speed is set accordingly.

Most of the time, at the widest focal length, my 330 will take pictures at f2.7.

Though, the field of depth isnt as short as I had wanted. here are a few sample pics demonstrating the field of depth at F2.7

I am considering cancelling the order... expected shipping on 6/3, S330 might be $310 everywhere then.
