A 'wheezing' sound? Like how a sick person wheezes for air? That is odd and it cant be good. I'd return it for another but thats just me.

No, well I didn't write the right word forgive me, I would mean a hiss noise, something like the "bzzzz" of some neon lights, just lower in volume... but it starts as I said. Another user here in Italy had experience with that issue...2 months after the lcd was sent to lg they told him something like "the hiss isn't so loud now, but it's still present, if you want to test it..." (he lives near a support center)
After all, the hiss isn't so annoying, but the ghosting... everywhere, I sent a email to LG tech support yesterday, and tomorrow I will call them by phone, just in case...

As for the overdrive ghosting, it is not spectacular like this, but it's surely noticeable

My model is L226WA
made in Poland, September 2007
firmware 1.32
panel cmo22.wide

I'm also experiencing a faint "wheezing" comin from the right side of the lcd, near the power button, but ONLY when I reduce the brightness below the max of 100 (default value), do you?

I'm afraid I'll send back the monitor if there aren't solutions to the overdrive problem (the wheezing is tolerable) ... I didn't notice troubles in 3D games, but in 2D is very annoying... Are there any news about disabling it by firmware upgrade (by LG tech support of course)

Everywhere, I'm not sure I can understand your problem looking at the photo you've posted...

by the way, I'm italian so forgive my english

No I don't have any of those problems :-?? I have nothing else to complain about my LG, It's allmost perfect

Hello

I been reading this topic since a week. I decided to join to view my problem.
I've bought L226WTQ for gaming and watching movies, But when i tested i was very disappointed, watching movies was ugly, i was seeing blue and red color when i watch movies, i've fixed this problem when i disabled Aging in service menu.

Gaming is really aweful i tought this model is a great for gaming but i got a bad luck, when i play games especially NFS Carbon, Car details is bad.

Here is an example:
http://imageshack.us]]

car details in my old Samsung CRT was awesome.
Mine was made in july and the version is 1.80. I've called lg service today i may be able to replace it with the 1.14 version.

Do you guys recommend me to swap it ? is it (1.14) really good for gaming such as CRT monitors ? or i won't going to notice any difference when i will swap it ?

Edit: Check another VGA card, results is the same and check between DVI and VGA, All the same.
Sorry for bad english.

Thanks

As I was reading through this thread I was hoping it would end with a resolution to the ghosting problem.

I've been going through monitor drama here in New Hampshire over the past few days. Thursday I bought a Samsung 226BW (Got a version C), too many problems returned it. Then I bought a Samsung 216, perfect but had a dead pixel in the center. Today I swapped the 216 for this LG. Everything seemed great at first, until I experienced the ghosting problems. Checked and I have a v1.00. Going to call an LG service center (there is only locally) on Monday, if they can't fix this, I'm going back to my boring old Samsung 17" LCD.

Hi, I just recently bought a LG L226WTQ and was thourougly impressed with the monitor, except I have a problem when playing games. the monitor is absolutely perfect in bright parts of games yet when things get a little dark and shadowey, all the textures leave like a red/green/blue sort of glow/trail behind them and is rather distracting. Sort of like the textures had an extra shader ontop of them, I don't think it's the traditional type of ghosting. But I just want it figured out

No, I emailed the returns dpt from the site I got it from (www.scan.co.uk) and the guy emailed me back saying "this thread should solve your problem" Yet he didn't actually link me to anything. I emailed back asking for this thread. been like 2 days with no response.

I have a BEJL226WTMO with firmware version 1.90, and i had horrible ghosting in darkness. (careful!, you might lose warranty/break monitor with wrong settings) my service menu said i have a CMO22W 4L, after changing panel type to LPL 22W 4L like tried by some guy on a german page I HAVE NO GHOSTING ANYMORE.

Edit: @The Keeper yes,i meant that site ... was late in the evening so i got confused

Hello again! I just found out something strange about my L226WTQ. There is a problem with the tilt: I try to adjust it and it flops back to the bottom again. Is there a special trick to do it? Please help me! Thank you!

Just bought an LG 226wtq yesterday. after unpacking it i did the ms paint technique to see if there is ghosting and it seems like there is. i don't have any FPS games installed so i cant really comment on it.
Mine btw is v1.80 w/ lpl22w 4l
anyway im having a problem w/ both icm files i got from the cd and from their site. photoshop keep on saying that it was defective. tried ignoring it but photoshop just pops an error then it closes. tried using the profile but the white in photoshop is suddenly flesh in color. it would be nice if anybody could post their icm.
can anyone also post their setting on this monitor. tried the setting posted by xtknight but it seems too bright (probably because mine is v1.80 w/ has a contrast ratio of 5000:1 according to its specs)

BTW can i use the lg 226wt icm posted by xtknight on my 226wtq?

That ICM hasn't been working real well for people, and the WT and WTQ probably use different panels so I doubt the profile is going to do anything beneficial for you.

Glad it worked out for you. The ICM I think may make things worse for the Q. Color profiles don't apply to games though.

HI xtknight, I purchased a LG L194WT lcd which i am sure was made in india. When i check my service menu it shows as lpl. But i have a very strange doubt that it is not. When you check LG UK site they show as all panels are made by CMO. Any way i think the best way is opening up the panel.

These CMO and Chungwa panels are very cheap and that i know for sure. AUO is also cheap when you compare with LG.PHILIPS. LG.PHILIPS panels have pixel pith of .285 and AUO panels have .283 when you check the documentation of the lcd panel they say it as .285.

I talked with lg they said they need my address to provide with more details. And i contacted india and they sent me the panel detail. In the panel details i found that the details are more mathing to AUO panel details (panel thickness, pixel pith, contrast) but How can that be possible if LG is using CMO panels and LG.Philips panels.

Thing is something really fishy going on here, If you want to buy a LG.Philips panel then the best way is to buy PHILIPS monitor. Which i know for sure that has a LG.Philips panel.

I have the LG.PHILIPS panel List with me and the speacification of my panel does not match with that list. So if you know something about my panel then please do help me.

Take care and thank you.

I dont think when they put LPL it means LPL panel, do check in the LG UK website and see the specifications for your monitor. They will show as the maker is CMO.

These people are really strange, they are making there own panel but not willing to use it in there monitors. We trust there brand and we buy it, but in the end we are the fools.

Best way is to open the lcd panel and make this sure and warn everyone out there.

The reason why they are doing this is LG.PHILIPS panels are good quality and most of them are made in POLAND, so they should be expensive. When you take AUO panels they are made in china or taiwan and the quality is not good as LG.PHILIPS.

PHILIPS makes alot of reasearch and they make the best panels, Next time i am going to buy a PHILIPS monitor so i dont have to worry about the panel anymore.

Starbuck why dont you carefully open your lcd and make sure what is the panel. Because that is what i am going to do rather than sending emails to LG.

I don't know why the pixel pitch is different. Apparently LG uses slightly bigger panels for their 19" widescreens than AUO which can also be seen in the active area measurement.
