well, I'll go to the shop and look for those ghosting problems you people described here in this topic. I hope it will end in buying one of 226WTQ.

p.s. should I look for CMO or LPL panel or it doesn't metter which one is in it as long as there's no ghosting?

I also ordered two L226WTQ. I was surprised because with factory settings they had different colors! One was little bit green, the other red - i managed it with custom settings.
I faced with ghostings problems and now i'm looking how to solve them

The service menu tells me:
L2x6W
TSUMO58 VER 1.80
070628 HSKIM ETI. 100

CLEAR ETI > NO
AUTO COLOR > NO
AGING > OFF
PANEL > CMO22W 4L
NVRAM INIT > NO

and some color sets (different on both panels)

so 1.80 has also ghosting problems... ok I had CRT's before, but it's extreme imho.

what i figured out:
- ETI is the time the display was powered on
- panel seems to be a predefined color set for the different panels, set to the right one at assembly and factory reset
- 070628 seems to be the production date (yymmdd)

forteManager has a Win Xp x64 installation but doesn't work on x64, so I can't ipgrade (if possible at all).

Here are some pictures and videos of my screens:
http://www.krisha.eu/media/L226WTQ/

and here I wrote a review - unfortunately in german

Is it a plain WTQ or is it something newer like the WTQ(BF)? Or one of the other models?

Here's my LG's service menu: Service Menu

Seems like a different version than what krisha has.

It's a 226 WTQ-SF 2 miliseconds. Had no problem with it what-so-ever. Great monitor.

They didn't include the cleaning cloth, though.

Are they still not providing a DVI cable? My L226WTQ(BF) came without one and I had to go buy one. I'd gladly trade a cleaning cloth for a DVI cable with my purchases if I had my choice but thats just me.

It came with DVI cable.

My post should have been something like this:

They didn't include the cleaning cloth, though.

hey guys,

just curious with those who have fixed firmware (v1.14 and above), do you see flicker or horizontal bands of pink (yours may be a different color) tint flashing across the blue background in this site when you drag the page up or down with the scrollbar?
http://www.lifeview.com.tw/html/downloads/downloads.htm

do you also see bright white shadows trailing the site text?

hi krisha,

i know how you feel. couldn't you return it for warranty? it appears based on posts here this issue's been fixed since 1.14. anybody with a fixed l226wtq confirm this by checking the link i posted in my earlier post? thanks.

Bambooshoot, Krisha, there's nothing like you experience on my monitor.

Try not using the Forte Manager, it might help.

@Krisha: You simply might have got a bad monitor. It's sad, but is seems weird that with a Service Bios higher than 1.14 the problems already solved will come back.

I'm from New Zealand and just bought a WTQ model.
It looks absoluately fine, lovely colours and haven't really had to adjust it much apart from the contract/brightness.

Now, throughout the forums it appears ghosting is an issue?
Unfortunately I dont know the best method to test the ghosting.

Quake 3 and CS 1.6 seemed fine.

Firmware: 1.14
L226WTQ
GM5822H made by ms_han
2007.03.29 0
Panel: LPL22W.4

Came with a cleaning cloth, DVI + VGA cables as well.

Hello there.

I bought the L226WTQ-SF and had the ghosting problem with any of my FPS games (BF2 was horendious, Crysis wasn't too bad but if you looked you could see it....). I found this thread and read that a few people were having this problem as well, to my dismay lol. But, fret not (oh, if this was posted already, sorry..). I checked the service menu and to be honest I just started messing around with stuff, bad habit lol, could of went sooo wrong, but for me, these setting removed the ghosting completely.

I installed the latest forte Manager (my version is 2.78) & rebooted.

Check that the ghosting has been removed, new drivers may be all thats needed.

If the ghosting is still present then get into the service menu using this little gem (thanks xtknight):

Originally posted by: xtknight
"Turn off your screen, then hold the menu button and turn on the screen. When you see an image again, release the menu button and press it again. Now you should see the service menu."

USE AT YOU'RE OWN RISK (they worked for me, so keep a copy of the original settings just incase, you might be able to restore them)

My Settings now are:
L2x6W
TSUM0f8 VER 1.80
070628 HSKIM ETI. 0
CLEAR ETI : NO (I selected yes and it reset back to NO)
AUTO COLOR : NO
AGING : ON This was OFF
PANEL : LPL22W 4L I can't remember the original setting
NVRAM INIT : NO

The setting above are a huge improvement on the factory ones, for me anyway, might help someone else BUT USE AT YOUR OWN RISK, if the monitor is borked after, you were warned.

Monitor Info:
FCC ID: BEJL226WTMQ
Manufacture Date: Aug 2007

Help! I have some funky problems after acessing service menu.

After i exit by switching off service menu. And when I on it back, the screen is white, then it slowly turns to black. I keep trying to switch on and off, but it's the same. How do i reset it? why can't i get back to the default menu? I am using LG 196WTQ BTW, the service menu is exactly the same. Acessed by holding the menu and then pressing the power button.

Help i can't get any image when i switch it back on now. not even the menu, juz white to black screen

Turning monitor power off then back on with the power switch on the monitor is supposed to reset the menu. If it doesn't work, try unplugging the monitor from the wall power outlet for 10 minutes.

I bought 226WTQ yesterday from Best Buy. I noticed that there are two different boxes manufactured in Korea and China. I picked the one from Korea first.

Here is the service menu:
L2x6W
Tsum058 Ver 1.40
070529 Hskim ETI

It displays awesome colors and clarity from the get go. It improved even more with ForteManager. It comes with DVI cable too. Unfortunately it has bad ghosting artifact. So I had to get a replacement with the one made in China:

L226WTQ V.1.14
GM5822H made by ms_han
2007.03.29

There is no ghosting artifact on this one. However, the default color settings were so off, I have been working hours to get the right settings . I installed the ICM profile found on this forum and it helped a lot. Once the settings are done, it looks as good as the first one. No DVI cable.

So, only two version numbers of LG226WTQ has no ghosting problem. I think these are 1.14 and 1.80. AFAIK, there is no way to know which version you are buying.

Just curious, I'm in the market for a LCD screen. Was going to order a LG L204 model but came across the 226 for either an extra 50 or 100$ more. Reasons listed next:

-The 204WT is 226$
-LG L226WTY-BF 22IN Widescreen LCD Black 2MS 1680X1050 3000:1 300CD/M2 VGA DVI Tilt Swivel Monitor - $321
-Lg L226WTX-BN 22IN Widescreen Lcd Black 5MS 1680X1050 3000:1 Vga DVI-D Tilt Swivel Hdcp Monitor - $280
-LG 226WTX-BF 22 inch Widescreen LCD Monitor Black (1680x1050, 5ms, 3000:1, 300cd, DVI/VGA) - $275

From what I understand, all three are HDCP, but the parts in bold have me wondering... Should I just settle for the 226WTX instead? The 2MS time isn't much of a bother and from what I gather, it'll have some ghosting out of the box unless it's disabled via settings.

Thanks!

WTY and WTX differences? Maybe the "Y" is Canada's way of differentiating between the WT and WTQ models? How about the BF and BN designations as well?

I would go for the new wide color gamut monitors like Samsung 226WC or LG 227WT. Samsung is selling for $340 at BestBuy. I am thinking about returning the 226WTQ and pay $60 more for a 226WC. You get what you pay for an LCD.

I don't think you can find a 226WTX, probably all sold out. LG is not even listing 226WT in their current lineup. Check the website, only monitors there are 226WA and 227WT. LG monitors list

I got three monitors from LG SWAP and analyzed them. my results can be found here: http://www.krisha.eu/2007/10/1...ent-firmware-versions/

@eeipca: ETI just resets the ETI value above to zero. It tells you the hours of operation. And I think you can't prevent ghosting with just playing in the service menu. PANEL is imho only a color-preset for different panel types. 1.80 seems to have ghosting on black areas, while 1.10 e.g. has ghosting on blue and bright (heaven) colors.

Color gamut isn't the be-all end-all for monitors, and I'm a bit leery of some of the other spec changes in the Samsung 226CW. I certainly wouldn't pay more to trade a monitor as good as the LG 226WTQ for one as new and untested as the 226CW -- especially when it looks as bad as this compared to a 226BW:

http://www.digitalversus.com/d...&mo2=224&p2=2104&ph=12

MUCH greater input delay, scary for gamers. Rendering looks worse, color way off before and after calibration. Maybe in a few months Samsung will straighten all this out and it's be the best choice. Right now, not so good.

For Canadian retailers, they've still got the WT(x) models in stock. It's a pain that retailers don't have some fixed labeling when it comes to monitors.

I'll look into the Samsung but I've heard better things come out of the LG 226 lineup instead.

edit - Err, maybe I'll stick with the LG after a quick read of the 226CW

Hi everyone,

I got a L226WA-WN 2 days ago for 470$ , all good. Today I updated my display adapter drivers ( nvidia fx5700 ). Now I have this problem:
http://i23.tinypic.com/2chxu08.jpg >< http://i24.tinypic.com/2hcd9as.jpg

It's assambled in Poland ( i'm from Romania ) http://i22.tinypic.com/fkmlpx.jpg

http://i24.tinypic.com/nqad88.jpg
http://i20.tinypic.com/2gwxqj7.jpg

How can I fix my problem ? I tried everything in forte manager and osd menu, installed back old drivers, used dvi/analog cables. And one more thing, I don't have F-engine option in forteManager or osd menu.

I have the same your model (L226WA) manufactured in Poland, September 2007. Unfortunately, I'm experiencing the ghosting issue mentioned by other members in this thread...what about you?
I'm also experiencing a faint "wheezing" comin from the right side of the lcd, near the power button, but ONLY when I reduce the brightness below the max of 100 (default value), do you?

I'm afraid I'll send back the monitor if there aren't solutions to the overdrive problem (the wheezing is tolerable) ... I didn't notice troubles in 3D games, but in 2D is very annoying... Are there any news about disabling it by firmware upgrade (by LG tech support of course)

Everywhere, I'm not sure I can understand your problem looking at the photo you've posted...

by the way, I'm italian so forgive my english
