What..the hell. This is horrible. She is due July 15th, she just had an MRI last night, and the doctor called her asap to tell her she has a brain tumor. They want to act as quicly as possible, so they are probably going to do a c-section, then operate.

I can't believe this.

I guess there is a bright side to this though; imagine the mental torture she would've gone through if the tumor was discovered in the 1-3rd month. 6 months of either letting the tumor grow or killing the fetus/baby.

Yeah, that is true. However, I am (we are) sure it has probably been there ever since the beginning. She has been getting progressively worse. She couldn't even write..her handwriting was so bad. Had trouble walking, balance issues...

Oh, I was under the impression it just appeared. Unfortunately, some of those symptoms can be associated with being pregnant, so I can understand why the MRI wasn't performed earlier.

Neither can I! Yeah, most people just figured her symptoms were from the pregnancy, but when the doctor performed many tests on monday, he wanted an MRI done immediately. What is bullsh!t, is that yesterday was the earliest she could be seen...so we had to wait before she could really be seen. I wanted an MRI done weeks ago.

Don't assume the worst. I had one and the only after-effect is a small scar on my neck. Medical science is amazing!

Best of luck to your sister.

That is just so awful. Good luck to her.

In regards to the baby 8 months is fine; the baby will be fine, no worries there.

sorry to hear that. how old is your sister?

She is just 25. This is her first child, she has been married for 2 years, and has been a kindergarten teacher for the past two also.

very tough news at 25. but because she's young, i'm sure she will pull through this.

Wow, I suppose TerryMatthews has a good point here.

Either way, I wish your sister the best of luck in recovering and giving birth to a healthy baby.

She's 8 months pregnant so hopefully they can wait at least a week or two more and let things come as close to finalizing as they can.

tumor or cancer? if it's a tumor, most likely she'll be fine. If it's cancer, your sister's odds are pretty much nil.

What the hell do you know about medicine? Her odds are not the best? Have you seen her case? Fvck you for saying that without knowing jack sh!t about her case.

To the OP, sorry to hear that man, hope everything turns out alright. Try not to worry too much until you know the full extent of what you're up against. We've made huge advancements in medicine, hopefully she can benefit from one or more of these breakthroughs.

And don't beat yourself up about a couple of weeks for the MRI, it most likely wouldn't have made a difference. Tumors progress rapidly on cell growth timelines, but that still means months and years, not days and weeks.

is the tumor operable? If so, then praise God, b/c there's still a chance she'll be able to come out with both her life and her baby.

best wishes to your sister and future niece/nephew. One of my friend's wives had a brain tumor and came out of it a-ok, very similar symtoms. She was 30. Pray to god that your sis and her future child will both be okay.

Man, I'm so sorry. Reading the title of this thread made my stomach drop, and I don't even know you or your sister. I hope it turns out OK.
