Personally I wouldn't make a huge business deal of it, and how are these tickets 200-300? Metallica's all day sanitarium tour tickets (with Bizcuit and Linkin Park) only go for $80. If you are doing this to try to make a ton of money then to me that seems a little shady, not too mention pretty risky (you could end up with 10 seats to a concert you don't even want to go to...well at least you could have your very own row and not have a 350 pounder next to you). However buying 2 of them and selling them for more is a different story. Just make a little extra spending cash, don't try and make a bunch of money....there's no such thing as free money. But that is just my $.02

$200-300 was just a random number I threw out, I wasn't entirely sure how ticket pricing for those seats went. But apparently they're only $68 (LA) to $98 (Vegas).

Yes, the last thing I want to happen is end up with 10 seats to a concert I don't want to go to...

He can get them for $70 apiece, which is a VERY good deal.

I told him I wasn't interested in going myself, but he said he could get them for me and suggested I sell them on eBay or somewhere else online... and odds are, they'd probably go for a bit more than $70.

Is this something I should invest in? I could really use some extra cash right now (couldn't we all?), but am not sure whether or not I should go the scalping route to do it.

EDIT: I only have until tomorrow to decide...

He wants some action.

-Ed

He has a stripper girlfriend who I don't particularly care for, so I'm safe.

He offered the tickets/deal to the rest of his friends practicing last night (5 of us total). None of them have too much cash to spare though, so they passed... I, however, have a limited amount of "investment capital".

Just make sure it is legal in your state to sell em for above face value. Fortunately it is in TX.

Phew, $700! Nice of you to refund most of the $$... how do I know whether or not it is legal in California/Nevada?

Check eBay's rules on selling tickets. From what I understand, eBay defers to the state law regarding ticket sales. So if the state says you can't sell the tickets for more than face value, then eBay abides by those rules. However, if scalping is legal in Las Vegas, NV, (or in LA, CA) then by all means, get some tickets and eBay them. I would do the same thing in your shoes.

Check on the legality first by checking eBay's rules, and then check to see what similar tickets are going for on eBay. Plan your auction to end at least 5 days (maybe even 7 or 10) in advance of the concert so the winning bidder has time to pay you and you have time to ship the tickets. Plan on accepting paypal and other on-line money transfers. Keep in mind, the closer your auction ends to the day of the show, the more money your tickets will fetch. Offer to ship USPS overnight for no charge, and include FREE SHIPPING in your auction title. This really helps to get people's attention, and if they are dropping $200 for a ticket, it helps make the deal seem sweeter. Also, sell mostly pairs if you can, and a couple of singles. If you are going 4 in Vegas, I would sell one pair and two singles. 6 in LA, two pair and two singles.

Check eBay's site for rules on ticket sales in those states. I had to read up on it because I sold some football tickets in IN last year. Fortunately, scalping is legal in IN.

From my limited knowledge/research you cannot sell tickets on site the day of the event for above face value. However selling them online or in person on a previous day is perfectly legal....at least that is the rules for sporting events. Although Ebay may have rules of their own if you go that route (then again I've seen tickets go on Ebay for above face value as well).

This is a longshot, but I'd buy a pair off you as a present to my gilfriend . She would love me forever if I took her to one of those shows as a surprise

I don't have much money, but if you recall, I live in Santa Monica so I could actually meet you and pay you in cash. This would be for the LA concert of course. Let me know whast you would like for a pair, if you can spare them

Thanks!

OK, I change my mind, if they are already running around $300 at least..buy 4-6 at each place (Vegas and LA) and sell them online. As long as you don't sell them onsite the day of the event you are perfectly legal and are simply working within the laws of supply and demand.

Its a misdemeanor in California for onsite sales. But everybody does it, check out the local paper. Tons of concert tickets.

info on Cali laws.

California Cal. Penal Code §346-368
"entertainment event" misdemeanor Needs written permission by owner or operator of property where events occurs; if sold on the grounds of the event; must be in excess of price printed on the ticket

I would put in the Orange County/Los Angles Recycler. E-bay seems like a lot of hassle.

What bugs me is that those ticket brokers get away with thier rates and for reg "joes" and "janes" its considered scalping. Its must be the extra income fed/state tax issue.

just pull the old 'selling the pencil routine' where you offer the tickets up for sale, and as part of the cost, you throw in a pencil or something cheap...they're paying face value for the tickets, but paying a shiznit for the pencil...gets u out of trouble in fl at least

man, you got some mad hookups...I'd definetely do it...probably wouldn't take longer than an hour for the auction. Just buy them for say 70 (each), and then set a price that you want (see what others are going for first), and then set like a $270 buy it now price.

Lucky. Those tickets would sure help justifying (whoops, no pun intended) the 120 gig HD I just bought.

Okay, here we go....

I'm on the phone with him right now.

Buying 8 tickets for the Vegas show, 8 tickets for the Los Angeles show (2 of 'em for an ATOTer ). Damn, this is kinda scary... that's $1,120 on my credit card. I'd better get it all back... *slightly worried*

He says they're GUARANTEED first three rows, right by the stage. If worse comes to worst for some reason, they'll be front middle FLOOR. For those who PMed me asking how legit this guy is, he's one of Justin Timberlake's choreographers and he'll be one of the backup dancers during the tour (currently putting all his stuff into storage, since he'll be gone for 3 months). He'll have the tickets in hand for me on June 16th.

$1,120.... GAH... I hope this is a good investment......

On a side note, Timberlake's backup dancers are only getting $100/day they're on tour. $9,000 total... which I guess isn't too bad, since they only dance an hour or so a couple days a week.

good luck the selling! If you need to load 2 off to to me at $100 each, let me know!

about the dancers -- they just don't dance a few hours a week -- they have to practice all the tmie! But it's a pretty cool gig they got!

For you Rufio, no problem. PM me on the 16th when I have the tickets and we'll arrage for some sort of exchange (make it $85/ticket and a bamboo plant and we're even ). And you're completely right about the dancers... they do practice all the time, and I'd take that gig anyday over my day job.

What the holy f*ck. I wouldn't touch this thing unless it was 100% guaranteed to be sold (and it has to be enough profit to be worth the trouble.) And then someone telling you by only word of mouth, and not actually seeing the tickets and seat location on them yourself? $1,540.00?! Way too much of a risk there.

Where is the belief coming from that they'll be sold at such a high amount? After pyonir's link and after looking at teh eb_ay link, I don't see anything selling for close to amount you're looking at. Theres a PAIR of tickets being auctioned on eb_ay for $120 even... no bids still.

That's what credit cards are for.

I have over $40,000 dollars in available credit. If i saw a chance to make a profit I'd have no problem using it. I say D will come out ahead on this one. Maybe she can use the profits to pick up a cookbook.

Check completed items on ebay (why do people disguise the word eBay, is it banned?). Active items don't mean anything, because they get most bids in the last few minutes. In the completed items, pairs of tickets are going for $250-$400 for floor seats. $355 for a pair in the 18th row.

Sorry. Couldn't find the completed items link (ebay bastards made it hard to find as they moved it from when I used to use it way back). Looksl iek they go for ~$100+ for each ticket.

Is there enough time to sell this stuff? Looks like only a few days from when the concert actually happens. Good luck.
