**UPDATE** Justified/Stripped tickets... Justin & Christina suck.

I was practicing dancing last night with some friends, and one of them mentioned he could get front-row/section tickets for the Justin Timberlake/Black Eyed Peas/Christina Aguilera concert in Los Angeles or Las Vegas for a serious discount (not sure how much they normally go for... $200-300?). He can get them for $70 apiece, which is a VERY good deal.

I told him I wasn't interested in going myself, but he said he could get them for me and suggested I sell them on eBay or somewhere else online... and odds are, they'd probably go for a bit more than $70.

Is this something I should invest in? I could really use some extra cash right now (couldn't we all?), but am not sure whether or not I should go the scalping route to do it.

EDIT: I only have until tomorrow to decide...

EDIT 6/16/03:

First of all, my deepest apologies to the ATOT-ers who e-mailed me asking for tickets. I was planning on hooking up everyone with a lower rate, but just got a call from my friend (he basically just stepped off the plane).

Donnie sends his apologies to everyone who was interested in the tickets, but he said that pretty much at the last minute, Justin and Christina told everyone that they'd be needing all the 1-3 row floor tickets for themselves in LA & Vegas (hooking up their friends/family/etc.). So ALL the dancers got screwed... the ones who were going to buy $70 floor tickets for their families are basically SOL. Donnie's pissed, but it's one of those "what can you do?" situations. He said he never charged my credit card, and he's very, very sorry to get people's hopes up.

I'm disappointed because a) I'm letting down the ATOT-ers who PM-ed me for tickets, and because b) I had a buyer e-mail me offering $1200 for 6 tickets. *sigh*

Odds are I would've come out a bit ahead on this one... but not this time. Once again, I'm sorry, everyone.

I am amazed at the amount of tickets you get for stuff, Dezign. Truthfully, I'd have to say that this concert would blow some serious chunks, but I'd definitely buy it (for $70 you can't really go wrong!) and maybe put an ad in the local paper or put them on eBay. I'm sure some kid's parents will pay good money for a ticket like that for a birthday present.

Sell them less than what they go for, so you are helping somebody else while getting some cash for yourself. I just want to know WTF BlacK Eyed Peas are doing with Justin Timberlake and Christian Agulara.

Umm face value for tickets to that concert (highest priced ones) at the Staples center are $68.00.

Of course they will go for more on like an ebay or something, but he isn't getting much of a discount.

Why not?

You could not pay me to go see either of them, but I would have no problem selling the tickets for a profit.

I don't see anything wrong with it... only thing is, doesn't ebay have a policy that tickets can't be sold for higher than their face value? But there's nothing wrong with it imo.

Buy em, then sell them to some guy online and have him try to get one of your friends as an escort.

Or just scalp 'em at the gate.

It's too bad I don't generally go to a lot of concerts/events.

If I do go ahead and purchase them, how many do you think I should buy? I only have about $2000 in savings right now, and my friend suggested I buy 10 in Vegas and 10 in LA, which would cost me $1400. I'd just want to be sure I could sell them all, because losing $1400 would be a pretty big hit.

Interesting, thanks pyonir... even for the front-row or front/middle section tickets?

Hmm... Staples Center (LA) = up to $68/ticket.

MGM Grand (Vegas) = $48.00 - $98.00

Maybe I'll only buy 4 in LA and 6 in Vegas?

a guy i know got ahole of talking heads or the who (i forget which) tickets last year at face value before they sold out. a week later he sold them for about 1 grand a piece. kicked himself when 3 days later he saw some sold for 2 and a a half grand apiece.

now i know nothing about justin and christina, and a little about the black-eyed peas, but i'm assuming that show will sell out and in that case the face value of the tickets means very little.

Personally I wouldn't make a huge business deal of it, and how are these tickets 200-300? Metallica's all day sanitarium tour tickets (with Bizcuit and Linkin Park) only go for $80. If you are doing this to try to make a ton of money then to me that seems a little shady, not too mention pretty risky (you could end up with 10 seats to a concert you don't even want to go to...well at least you could have your very own row and not have a 350 pounder next to you). However buying 2 of them and selling them for more is a different story. Just make a little extra spending cash, don't try and make a bunch of money....there's no such thing as free money. But that is just my $.02

i say go for it. considering i sold a pair of britney spears tickets for $700 last year (though the damn concert got canceled halfway through and I ended up refunding em most of the $$).

Just make sure it is legal in your state to sell em for above face value. Fortunately it is in TX.
