I had my 1.6a last Thursday but only had my Shuttle AV40 board to run it
on, it was able to do 16x117 (1872mhz), this was upped from a 1.5 running
at 1.65 (15x110).
I got my Asus P4S333 last night, got the OS installed, drivers all set,
all updates and then upped the cpu to 2415 (16x150) but the DDR was
using the 4:3 divider for 225mhz.
This is at 1.55v (in bios~not MBM) and stock Intel hs/fan

Ive been able to run it at 2320 (16x145) with the DDR at 1:1 for 290mhz.
Completely stable, no errors, Prime ran for about 4 hours before I went
to bed.

3dmark2001 came up with :
2320mhz was 5023 (145fsb with 1:1 for DDR)
2192mhz was 4891 (137fsb with 1:1 for DDR)
2415mhz was 5082 (150fsb with 4:3 for DDR)

This is with a Leadtek Gf2 Ti 64mb at 265mhz/475mhz running 27.20 drivers

I love this Asus board and 1.6a chip!!!!
Ive got the screen shots if anyone can post them or wants them

<< Can your do above 125FSB? Push it higher to see what it does. >>

I pushe d the FSB up to 133 (PCI locked @33MHz). 2.13GHZ so far but I think I'll bump it back down to 2G and burn it in for a few days. I can only bump the voltage on this board to 1.625.

Edit: I'm up to 2.24 (FSB 140), my voltage is at 1.55 but my temp is 38 C idle (side of case open).....a bit warm, no?

Edit2: I've moved my comp back to it's normal quarters which are BTW much cooler than where it was earlier and my idle temp is down to 32C. I just played a quick round (100 frags) of Q3 and my CPU temp is 39C @ 2.24GHz

I should have gotten the combo, but I bought the cpu from Mwave.com one week, then the next week came into some more cash and got the motherboard from them also.
There shipping (or maybe order processing) seems to be quicker than newegg.
Yes, stock Intel hs+fan, voltage is set to auto in the bios, Im going to try upping it a bit and trying more FSB.

dbwillis,

It makes in Malay isn't it? Some got CostaRica and still waiting their rerults.

y2kc,

If it stables, I would leave it as high as it can be and wouln't worry much about the hot issue. It wil shorten the life. so what? You're likely to upgrade the your system in a year or so.

well, I dl'd the mobo monitor and when setting it up, theres 3 diff sensors that give temps. asus 1, 2 & asus csul2, 3 gives me temp of -1C. asus 1 gives me idle temp of 24C (which matches chipset temp in asusprobe), asus 2 gives idle temp of around 30C and cusl2 gives idle temp of around 45. which one should I trust? I know you said cusl2 was the one that would work. the temps on asus 2 match the asus probe temps when on full load, but the asus probe wont go under 40C idle. im getting so many diff readings, i dont know which one to trust.

The voltage select should be right on the page with the fsb and ratio selections.
Im not sure what the -m means in the P4S333-m..Im not sure if I had anything after my decription of the board.

nothing about voltage

tried to run up fsb but locks up above /35 pci both 106/35 and 138/35
so its not cpu or ram holding it back the video card and modem both ran fine on my last system with a fsb of 150

i would flash bios to see if i could get some voltage settings but cant find this mb on asus web site p4s333-vm is close but dont want to take chances with bios

this is not the mb you want to buy

under overclocking in the manual
fsb 100-166
fsb/mem ratio

thats it no voltage

M stands for Must be returned

Ran into a little trouble last night, after some extended gaming (Q3) my system locked and on reboot went back to default settings. My temp at the time of the lockup was 39C which I don't think is all that bad after playing a few (loaded) rounds of deathmatch. I am considering getting the Volcano 7 cooler mentioned by Yourself but I think I'm leaning towards getting th ASUS board instead, Abits are historically flaky, but when they are good, they are really good. I'll keep the BD7 and slap it in a non-overclocked system eventually (y2kc=not made of money).

I got my Asus P4B266-C / 1.6a / 512MB Mushkin PC2100 2-3-3 DDR combo yesterday. Loaded and patched XP at default speed then rebooted at 133 FSB. So far so good at 2128Mhz. I've got SETI running on it and will throw some Medal Of Honor: Allied Assault at it after work. If it's stable after that I'll bump up the FSB and see what this baby can do!

Thanks to everyone here for the feedback. Without it I wouldn't have this kickarse rig!

I just ordered the P4 1.6A/P4S333 combo from Mwave.com(no stock@Newegg) for 255$ and some Samsung 2700DDR from Newegg with many other goodies I would like to add my thanks as well to everyone whom contributed to this thread for the excellent Data and tips about the 1.6A I'll add my results A.S.A.P. BTW, I think it's time for the official/unofficial P4 1.6A thread, although this one is going great!

Is anyone else using the Abit BD7-RAID for this OC? If so, what are the voltage bumps needed to achieve 2.2GHz or higher? Also, what do you set the Memory Frequency to? DDR200 or DDR266? Thank you guys so much!!

I3itz or whatever,

you probably need to bump up that cpu volts. and also, bump that memory freq on up man! you got 2700 ddr! hell, I have my mushkin high perf 2100 running 290, 1:1.

dapunisher, there is a thread called "unofficial northwood database" or something like that. shouldnt be too far down the list.
