Everyone at least got charged the original amount?

My order ended up really weird : 2 boxes came, one box is empty, the other had 1 of 2 items I ordered, and no charge on my credit card at all ... I called them up about the empty box and the guy said the order should've been cancelled, I shouldn't have receive anything.

I'm still waiting to see what they'll charge me. I'm afraid they'll slam me with the full charge because it showed 2 boxes delivered, even though one is empty. (which I'll dispute with cc bank of course)

Well, I'm charged what I believe what I should pay.
And NO, I don't think they have to right to recall the product or readjust charge, it's a done deal period.

look for a separate charge for the removed coupons + tax. That's what they did to me.

What item did you buy?
I totally think what they did is illegal.
There is no such thing as adjustment w/o customer consent.
It's like you buy a TV for $300, but after leaving the store, they tag on another $200 onto it.

od did make a mistake and people capitalized on it, but it should be quite a karma hit for people that take advantages of people's mistakes. i figure there are od website employees that are getting yelled at somewhere.

congrats to the people that got an awesome deal, but keep in mind that od has more money than you do and can buy better lawyers than you.

Just checked my CC and found the proper amount charged and no futher activity. My printer arrived via UPS last week. All is good.

BTW - Yesturday I won the office 50/50 raffle (where half went to a charity). So my KARMA is in tack as well. LOL. Maybe it was a way of OD's Karma correcting itself for past mistakes, by allowing a rightous person like myself to get a good deal???? LOL..... I can use more of this type of Karma.

good heads up.

That is shady as hell. I am guessing they didnt consult you for your permission as well. Force your CC to deny the adjustment charge, and keep the order when you get it.
It's no more shady than you using coupons meant to be one per purchase, not to mention non-transferable, etc etc.

Uh not it's a lot more shady. They willingly sold the items. The people here did NOT give Office Depot permission to charge them more money.

Yea, Its the same as you coming into the store....buying the item and then they chase you don on the street and take money out of your wallet.
That's a very good analogy...

not only is that they just grab the money from your wallet but they put a bag over your head and beat the living hell out of you and then grab the wallet to take back "their" money, but they made a mistake....they used a bag that says Office Depot on it, and we know who robbed us!

to summarize my point, what they did was illegal, what we did was common sense!
yes it is against the rules to stack coupons, but hell does it hurt to try? and if it works then who's to say they didnt change the policy. either way, they could decide not to honor it but they decided to sneakingly charge us (or rather you i didnt get in on this deal) for a different amount shown on the receipt!

and for that prick who said OD has more money and will hire better lawyers, there's no way around it that they can charge us and since the item is already shipped they will have a hard time getting it back

Same here. Maybe by the time they got to my purchase they had already a ton of complaints about suing and fraud.

Agreed...

you should be happy for people, instead of sinking into a pile of pitiful self-righteousness

Anyhoo, looks like everything's clear on my end, got my antec sonata and a headset with the right amount on my CC.
Congrats on those who got in on the deal and better luck next time to those who didn't

For that idiot who said OD has more money and will hire better lawyers - they better have a very good lawer since charging a CC without customer consend is a FEDERAL WIRE FRAUD so it will be not my lawer who will sue them - it will be the state General Attorney.
Sorry to disappoint you buddy (feel sorry for you if you the employee from OD who got fired for this mistake)!
For all the people who got on the deal - congrats!
As for the Tash - first dispute transaction and drop a letter to your state general attorney describing a situation, if there are several people to complain OD can face millions of $ of court fines.

first of all
It is 100% illegal to put additional charges on a persons credit card without authorization to do it period, their is no RIGHT for OD to fight back against some chance use of coupons that typically can't work together. This is called a contract! The agreement to pay money for goods is a contract under law in ever state in the US. If you pay a certain price and they deliver, the contract is completed. If they try to bill you more money for an item, that is outside of the contract and can be considered credit card merchant mis-use, or a fancy way to say merchant fraud.

secondly, OD could have canceled these orders ANYTIME before delivery or payment and not billed people and not had any problems, but they delivered the items and billed people, they cannot back-bill. If they backbill me I won't JUST be calling my credit card company, I'll see if my lawyer can get me a couple hundred bucks settlement to keep me from pressing charges. Merchant card mis-use carries a nice $5K fine for first attempt in my state, plus anything on the federal level.
