I picked up two of these chairs. The different reactions you get from the employees making the sale are interesting.
The FIRST chair I bought..
Me: Can you match the Office Depot online price, $59? Showed the printed paper with price.
Employee: Sure we can, but isn't that the chair that is in our ad this week for $39?
Me: (playing along so he doesn't know I'm practically stealing the chair) $39! But that's after the rebate.
Me: I have this coupon for $20 off too.
Employee: (Gives me a funny look.) They must be doing this special differently online because either way it's $39. I'm pretty sure I can do this but I can't give you the rebate too.
Me: (I give him a funny look, and continue to play along) Except if we do it this way (my way) I don't have to wait for the rebate to get the $39 price.
Employee: Let me go check if I can do this.
Employee (returns) Sure we can do this.
Me: Paid and walked out the store with my soon to be $13 chair but without the rebate slip. Ofcourse I printed it out at home and already mailed it in.
(((Imagine if I would have tried to buy two chairs like I wanted to)))
So I go to the other Office Depot less than two miles away.
The SECOND chair I bought, the same day, different Office Depot.
Me: Can you match the Office Depot online price, $59? Showed the printed paper with price.
Employee: No, that's the ONLINE price they have special prices that are different than our in-store prices. They have special prices because you have to pay shipping and handling.
Me: I showed her the text on the printed paper I brought that said FREE SHIPPING for orders over $50.
Employee: (flustered) That's an online price.. blah blah blah.
Me: (stretching the truth a bit) But they've done it before with another product I bought about a month ago at this Office Depot.
Employee: Who did it? (more flustered) Well I can call my manager and ask but I'm pretty sure that is an online price only.. blah blah blah.
Me: waiting
Employee: Steve!, the manager, please come to register blah blah.
Employee: Figures out Steve isn't here and gets another managers attention.
Manager: Yeah go ahead give it to him for $59
Employee: But Steve said we shouldn't and I don't want Steve all over me.
Manager: Tell him I said it was ok.
Employee: (even more flustered) Click click click (ringing it up)
Me: I also have this coupon ($20 off)
Employee: (to her manager) This too!?
Manager: (didn't understand that she was asking about the coupon) Yes.
Employee: click click click.. ringing it up.
Me: (just give me the damn chair already) Paid
Employee: Ok, and here is your rebate too
Me: walked out the store with my soon to be $13 chair with the rebate.

By the way, both the chairs are great so far. No complaints. Quality seems good and they are comfortable.
I've already been back to both of these stores to use the $20 off of $50 coupon in each. Neither one of them would let me use the coupon twice if I made separate purchases. I'll probably be back to one of them again tomorrow because I need one more ink cartridge for my printer and the coupon will again come in handy.
