update on hard drive problem, need help again :(

thanks so much for the help, i am really happy that people helped me fix the partition problem

so i partitioned it after i patched fdisk, and now it's showing up as its 95+gb self in fdisk, but when i go to format it's still 29.something mb.

any ideas?

i can't seem to get my hard drive up and running

drive = western digital 100gb 7200 rpm drive model wd1000bb
mobo = soyo 6ba +iv with a celeron 566 in it and some odd 600something ram

my problem is when i partition it, it shows up as a 29.xxx gb drive in fdisk. somehow i dont think that's right.

i bought the drive "new" from someone, and it was sealed. but he took out the installation disk and everything but the drive

i flashed the mobo with the latest bios i think, and that didn't seem to do anything. my plans are to set up a scsi 9,1gb bootup with this 100 gigger as my storage drive...but i dont know if that will work, considering i can't even install the 100gb

help please. it'd be appreciated greatly

Just go to the WD site and download their software for formatting and partitioning. I think you may have issues otherwise.

Sounds to me like the BIOS does not recognize drives larger than 30GB. Try WDs software as suggeste or partition the drive into smller drive recognizable by the BIOS.
