Ahhhhhh. speeding tickets. I kind of have a thing with them, lol, cuz I get them too often. I remember my first ever speeding ticket. I was doing 107 mph in VA, and trust me virginia cops SUCK! He gave me a ticket for reckless driving.
When I went to court...I told the judge it was my first ticket and begged...He let me go, but I had to attend 9 hours of DRIVING TRAINING SCHOOL, SH!T, i would rather of had my license suspended for 30 days

never got caught for that, but accelerated to 100 in a 50 with a cop right on my ass :Q

(give me a break, it was night and I couldn't see that it was a cop car)

Well before I should have had some tickets. 110 in a 60 in the rain(I was late). That whole day I did between 90-120 on the interstate. On side roads I did 60-70 in a 35. STUPID!!!!!

Back in the early 91(?) I got tagged in Louisiana doing 137 mph. I was in a "slightly" modified 89 Honda CRX Si (damn I loved that car!). It was on a loooooong straight stretch of freeway with no other cars around and I was bored, driving from TX to NC.

The Trooper was hiding in some bushes and I just barely caught a glimpse of him as I flew by him. As soon as he pulled out, in a Ford SHO no less, I knew I was going to jail. But instead of making him chase me down I pulled over and waited for him.

He walked up and asked me if I knew how fast I was going. All I could say was in excess of 125, which was the max speed display on the speedo. He told me I locked on the radar at 137. DOH! I didn't bother to ask to see it.

After chewing my ass out for 30 minutes on the side of the highway he wrote me a ticket for 80 in a 60 and let me go. I thanked him profusely and mailed the payment as soon as I got to NC. If I recall it was about $125.

From that stop I would estimate my CRX's top speed 140-145 as I still had 2000 rpm's to go before redline in 5th gear. Though after that I never got it above 100 again.

200 KM/h is about 125 MPH, so everyone knows

Nice story, grouch. I've gotten my self out of a lot of trouble just by being a decent guy, and by playing dumb (within reason) to the cop.

welp... if you do 102, not only are you stupid, but you are stupid for getting caugh... and stupid for complaining... i take it, you are a kid right? i'm a youngin too, but i'm not that stupid... i have raced before, but on a controlled area, aka, race track and freind's house (he has a .5 mile drag strip) ... ummm... if you are under your parents insurance, your parents WILL find out... might as well tell them now...

note to teenagers, the human body wasn't made to go 30 mph...
if a human body makes a 30 mph DEAD STOP... it dies... period...
this is only in effect if it's a dead stop... but oh well...

also, even if you are on a straightaway... you do NOT have control of your car... what happens if a tire pops? pothole? stick? good gust of wind? anything? you're now jello, and so is your car...

it's not worth it... $5 says you weren't even in a hurry...
i've learned the hard way, and lost a freind who was racing another dumbass, he did 140mph, over the barrier, and into a dozen oncoming cars, upside down... in a crappy hooked up civic... doctors said before his 20+ rollovers, he was already dead from the geforce...
140 isn't much better than 100... cause of the crash was, a rock, about the size of my fist... in which, i keep in my car, for safe knowledge...

i didn't have this opinion until this happened, i thought i was king of the road too... but we teenagers literally have NO experience on the road, nor at 100mph, we are not race car drivers, nor do we have race cars, nor race tracks...

you deserve a $500 fine... was it worth it ?

(not to cause a ruckus and all, just another viewpoint to add to the bunch)

CoffeeMan, is right. It is stupid to drive like this on public streets. But let me clarify some things about my story.

1. I was not a teenager, but mid 20's.

2. I grew up racing go-carts and I did race the CRX in sanctioned SCCA Events, Club Production class. It was modified with several safety features, including full roll cage, 5-way safety harnesses(which was being worn), and custom seats. Control wise it had a modified suspension, brakes, steering components and engine & drivetrain mods. Yes, it was street legal (damn I loved that car! Have I said that already?).

3. Going through the training of learning how to race and having LEGALLY raced this vehicle on a number of occassions I knew how the car would react and what to do in emergency situations, like a tire blow out. I knew the car's limits and my driving limits.

I never raced my car on against someone else on public streets. NEVER. The time I described in my earlier post it was daytime, I was alone on a long stretch clear, dry highway, and I knew it well. It was two-lanes in each direction with a very w i d e median in between the on-coming lanes. There was not another car in sight and I would not have passed any cars I approached at excessive speeds. Does any of that matter? No. It was still stupid to do, I got lucky, and I never did it again.

People I see racing around on streets today are nuts. They believe their cars can handle anything because they put on lower springs, fat tires and absolutely useless huge rear wings. It takes ALOT more than that. Put any of these cars on a track and push them you will see how crappy they are set up. Then they race each other in and out of traffic, they don't know their cars limits, nor their own limits and now they are endangering others lives as well. In Texas you don't get a ticket for reckless driving, you go to jail.

10-years ago I learned my lesson, it isn't worth it. If you want to race keep it on a track. Thier are SCCA Sanctioned clubs in most large cities throughout the US with different classes of racing.

I'm dissappointed in you. Never plead guilty.

I just got a couple of tickets thrown out, not speeding mind you. Just a bunch of parking tickets, expired plates stickers (forgot to replace it, was at home), and expired inspection which I had no clue, seriously forgot.

Anyways, called a buddy, and went to court. He went to talk to a few cops and the judge. It sucked, he didn't know this judge, but knew everyone else in the courtroom. When we were called, we went up. Said good afternoon to the judge. Without looking, the judge threw it out, including the other tickets. The other tickets were scheduled for court dates about 2 weeks away. No need to go anymore.

It's good to know Italian friends and cops. Make friends with them. I don't think the judge liked me cuz I was asian, not part of the family...

2coffee Thats a good story, and one you should share with people whenever possible. I'm 23 and driving a fairly slow car now (quite responsibly most of the time...), but I sure used to drive like a damned idiot and so did most of my friends - all of us got in an accident when we were 16. we all drove like _goddamned lunatics_ - not a good thing to do sticking a 16-17 year old in a car capable of 140 mph. We all got in some very close calls...apparently your friend wasn't as lucky - but you're right, it really isn't worth it. Sometimes I feel compelled to drive fast through traffic but I never go as fast as I used to...I don't have the balls for it anymore (thank god).
