:/ I was just informed by a representative in philips rebate center that if you sent in rebate {cdrw/8x4x32} for $40,and have been patiently waiting for it to arrive,it WILL NOT,unless you CALL PHILIPS DIRECTLY.They blame this on the rebate center that WAS handling rebates, but no longer is,HOWEVER they did have my information.Regardless, the person I spoke with in philips rebate center stated "those who do not call philips directly will NOT get a rebate".Bottom line, even though we all sent in all necessary information, from what I was told,if you do not call philips rebate center, state your concern, and get a case number you rebate will not arrive. What a crappy way to do buisness.I will NEVER do another rebate through philips again.
To all you that want your rebate, this is what it takes.Call philips rebate center (800)531-0039, prompt 5,(I waited 12 minutes),be prepaired to state store purchased from, your name, and approximate date purchased and time rebate sent in,last GET A CASE NUMBER.
After you jump through this flaming hoop you should expect to recieve rebate in 4-6 weeks. If you do not call in there representative told me you will not get a rebate.

Thread likely will be locked...

In any case, use the FTC complaint site (either listed here or in another forum I came across) to give them a first hand report.

This kind of action by such a huge company is preposterous.

So if they are able to verify that you sent in a rebate (like they did for me), then they obviously have everyone's information. And if they do, they're choosing not to send out the rebates on their own which is rather unethical.

Of course you could always test this by calling with a fake name to see if they say, "oh yes mr xxxx, we do have a record of your rebate..."

For this reason I will never buy another Philips product and I will tell everyone I know not to buy any Philips products. And when I see a hot deal on any public forums like this that involves a rebate I'll remind them od this incident. Was it really worth the $40 to screw me Philips?

I guess some folks hear only what they want to hear.

I just received a case number via Philips USA, by CSR Debbie. Philips is currently processing all rebates in-house. As a businessman, I can imagine the workload is stressful, but they are doing the best humans can do in such a situation.

It only took me 7 minutes to complete the call, and at the end I asked Debbie if recipients are required to call in to receive the rebate. Her reply was, "No, but those who do call will be processed sooner only because our info has been brought to the front of the line in the system.

Rumors dissolved. Now, you can either wait patiently as you have, or call and rest assured that your name was moved to the front.

Be sure to have the Model #, place and approximate date of purchase. Have a pen or pencil ready to record the case # for future reference if needed.

>>>they're choosing not to send out the rebates on their own which is rather unethical.<<<

IF they are actually only sending out rebate checks to those that call, that would be more than just unethical - it is stealing, plain and simple. I'm NOT so sure this IS what they are doing, but we'll see.

>>>For this reason I will never buy another Philips product and I will tell everyone I know not to buy any Philips products. And when I see a hot deal on any public forums like this that involves a rebate I'll remind them od this incident. Was it really worth the $40 to screw me Philips?<<<

Same here. Not another Philips product for me as long as I live. I've been avoiding GE and their 250,000+ products for about 10 years for screwing me, so boycotting Philips will be a piece of cake

>>>they are doing the best humans can do in such a situation.<<<

No...humans that are 'doing their best' do not blatantly lie...their rep Lanelle did exactly that. They also said that 'Parago went out of business', which is simply untrue.

I've had a lot of experiences with rebates where they don't sent you a check until you call them. In fact over half of the ones I've done in the last year I had to call... Sony, OD, Covad, Prime Peripherals, etc. No big deal, as long as I get it. Granted this Philips one is a weird situation, but I've got another $100 rebate coming from Philips for a monitor, so I'll see how that ones goes before I get pissed at them.

I've never had to call to receive a rebate! I've recieved rebates in a timely manner from MS; Symantec; Trane; Farberware; Office Max; Staples; Office Depot; Maxtor; WD.........and more, without a phone call.

I don't believe that ANY company requires you to call to receive a rebate as long as you have processed the paperwork and mailed it in a timely manner.

Merry Christmas to all, and to all, a timely rebate!

Thanks for the post. I just got a case#. The reps are just repeating and ad libbing on what they are told. They may not even work for Philips but work in a contracted call center. So at any rate, get your case # and wait with eveyone else. I wonder what kind of class action might be available? We should be compensated for our extra time and work. Of course, I know that some folks were able to use 2 rebates, perhaps not part of Philips original plan and maybe that's what's causing the problems. But they were there to be used. Poor planning by their marketing dept.

Thanks, i called up just now and talked to a Christopher, nice guy born in Logansport, Indiana, 70 minutes away but i digress

He didn't give me much information as to what had taken place, its 11 o clock here i've been studying for a few hours so my mind wasn't completly clear on what questions to ask. Basically i set everything up, made a mistake and said the 7th of october was my purchase date when in fact it was the 7th of september - doh! no problem he said and he sent an email fixing it.

He said that setting up these case numbers didn't gurantee that our problems would be pushed to the front of the line.

10 business days i'll get a letter or something

shouldn't have put in for the 2 rebates, doh! - Rebates received in last 4 months: Linksys nic, Ipaq 3150(not even eligible but got anyway) Rebates denied: Tigerdirect 128mb ram(20), philips cd(40, well 2 stupid hot deals forum ), Samsung 753df $40 (damn pricematch), ubid $20

Can somebody here post a sample mail of complaint and the mail/email address to deliver? I believe certain action must be taken in the thread.

Thanks in advance.

This was not Philips fault. Parago was contracted to do the rebates and they broke the contract with Phlips and dumped the rebates back on them to complete. You will get your quicker by calling but they are working to clean up the parago mess and get the rebates out.

1)how can u tell parago broke the contract and not philips?
2)parago's been handling rebates for a number of major companies without any problem!
3)philips lied about parago was out of business when i called 5+ weeks ago
4)i was told by CSR Rhonda that i would get my check in 4 weeks, i was told once again to wait for 4 more weeks.

so tell me is it parago or philips!

can somebody post the serial number for the philips CDRW?
I called and the lady told me that she can't process it until I provide her with a serial number.

Supercyrix, serial numbers are unique by definition. They are used to ID your product! You will not see a serial number posted. Look on your CDRW.

Pull your drive, and see for yourself -- you don't need to screw someone else out of their rebate claim.
(They will check.)

arrgghh..it's in my sister's computer 40 miles away. Would majorly suck if I have to go up there because of Philips screwup.

Are you saying that each and every single serial number off the philips cd drive ever made is unique?
