Both mine and my father's came today. My last contact with Philips was about a month ago. Finally! Bought the drives...what was it, in July?

Well I didn't pay much attention to this thread, and then finally got to calling Philips for the first time Last month and my check came today. I thank all those who got all the info for us lazy folks, else I'd never see it again. I just figure you guys did an excellent job and today I received my check. No heartache, no stress.

I didn't receive my rebate yet dab nabbit!!! Some lady from Phillips even called like on 1/02. I hope I get mines, I brought mines in August.

Still, I had to remind my brother who had bought one of these, too. I made sure to call him, because I know if I didn't, he would never, ever get his rebate. That's why they did this...because they know after all this time, 80% of the people have forgotten, and since they forgot they won't file FTC or BBB complaints. I'm honestly surprised they didn't try to appease those who DID remember a little faster, because now we've had time to file some of those complaints. Hopefully with any luck, those complaints will get an investigation started, so they can dig up all those rebates that WONT get paid and really screw Philips over for screwing us. I hate Philips, and they're stupid CD writer was mediocre at best to put the icing on the cake! >>



I haven't received anything yet, and I definitely called two months ago. I'll email Ms. Russ and see what happens.

I really hope someone cooks up a simple paragraph form letter for us to email/fax to the FTC. We're the lucky ones for having fellow members constantly harrass Philips, and remind us to do the same.

Judging by my case (like many) in which I was promised a check many weeks ago by Philips CS, I can only imagine the hundreds (if not thousands) of consumers who they simply have shown no intentions of paying on this rebate.

So please, if you bought the drive and are still looking at this thread, email the FTC on behalf of those who aren't as aware.

Got mine today, too. If Natalia IS reading this thread, how about an explanation of why Philips killed their rep & word-of-mouth with so many people for so little $$$.

Look at it this way, most of us have had case numbers & promises of rebates since October. When the second rebate time-frame ran out and Natalia started receiving umpteen calls & emails from us, wouldn't it have made sense to appraise everyone of the situation? I like a lot of Philips stuff (Smartsound on their TVs is among the best inventions since the cruise control and the proverbial sliced bread) but based on my experiences, I can't support their company when it maintains such shoddy business practices.

After all, if I had found this much negative feedback on a retailer at resellerratings.com, there's no way I'd buy from them.

Got mine today too. They didn't appraise us because it would have been an admission of having done something wrong. They're just trying to bury this as fast they can at this point. I'm guessing that they probably (and deservedly) have the FTC breathing down their necks.

Screw Philips.

I'm guessing not...because if you call and just speak to the front-line retard CSRs, you're still told '6-8 weeks' or '4-6 weeks'...if the FTC was getting on their case, they would be fulfilling everyone's rebates as fast as they can - as it is, they are still BS'ing the people that are calling the 800-number.

I e-mailed Natalia earlier this week for my GF & her dad. Didn't received a response.
However, the checks came on Thursday, after about 6 freaking MONTHS = 24 WEEKs.

After 2 days without a reply, I called Phililps customer service & they said I have to wait until
at least 1/24/02 for it to be 8 weeks from the time I last called that they said a check would be
sent for them to do anything. The lady just hung up on me after I insisted just send another e-mail
reminder to promotions dept, etc.... :|

I will NEVER look at a Philips product the same again. When I walk by a Philips VCR or TV on display
at the store or anything Philips, I will forever remember this fiasco. I will NEVER knowingly buy another
crappy philips product.

I'm agreeing with Koolhand on this point. I was looking for a new TV for my parent's yesterday at BB and saw a Philips set and the same nego impression wafted over me, too. Saw another picture of a drive setup someone had put together with a Philips product in the system and not even knowing anything about the product, I discounted it. It's subtle, but this sort of incompetent rebate shuffle really does lower expectations for their products.

FYI- The Prime Peripherals $50 MIR for the 200 cdrs.

I gave up on that one a long time ago. I did send an email somewhere. I also contacted the OfficeMax who gave me a 45 or 50 gc.

Then lo and behold about a month after that I got a rebate from PP. (this was about 4 months ago)
I considered it found money. Never ever expected to see a dime from that one.

Anyway I had given up on this one also. But will at least make the call and send the email and see what happens. (BTW this is the worst CDRW I have ever owned, though my only other comparisons are plextors)
Taught me a lesson. Since I bought it with no intention of every using it....(already had a Plexy) I will never spend $$ for something even if its FREE after rebate IF the rebate is shady.

Personal Experience...
I work for GM. I love GM cars. I drive Honda's. Why?? Even after the discounts up front, I come out way ahead on resale. That, and QUALITY !! I hope someone else notices a parallel here. The reason items get discounted or have rebates is either because....1>slow sellers 2>marginal quality

Why would an item be a slow seller? Many reasons.. Why would a major manufacturer like phillips discount an item (or...hmmm almost every item in their product line..).....customer demand at the retail price?? Why would a customer not want to pay a manufacturers retail price? 1>price is too high, relative to other products with similar specifications 2>quality is an issue to the consumer Hmmm all comes back to quality

Prove me wrong

I got my $40 Phillips rebate (couldn't go for the other rebate). I never called or emailed so if you haven't yet you probably don't need to. Of course you might want to call anyone but I figured I'd wait for a while... Can't wait to pass up that next Phillips rebate deal .
