I received this today. I actually emailed them more than a month ago and just got a the reply today!

The saga continues.

<< Parago is no longer handling rebate fulfillment for Philips products. All
Philips consumer rebate checks will be issued by a new fulfillment service.
You will receive your rebate check within 8 weeks of mailing your claim. If
you do not get your check after 8 weeks - please call 800-531-0039 for
further assistance. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Thank you for your participation in these promotions.

Yep, I called today and was told they had no record of my call to them several weeks ago, now it will be ANOTHER 4-6 weeks. At least this time I got a case number, well see if that does any good

Who is suck? Phillips, that's who

I will give them credit though for a short phone wait, unlike the phone Hell at Dell. I'm usually on the phone with Dell for at least 45 minutes, even for the simplest questions. Come to think of it, I'm still waiting for a rebate from them too. AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

I know this is the eternal "Bitch & Moan" hot deal but I've got to add my two cents. I called them in mid November and the CSR told me the typical BS that I should receive my rebate in 4-6 weeks and if I don't receive it, I should email them back with my case number. However, my name has never showed up in rebateshq and after I emailed them on Monday, I've never received a reply.

I'm now taking bets on whether I EVER receive a rebate or not. Here are the odds:

Receive rebate: 1 to 1,000,000
Never buy another Philips product: LOCK

If you have not already. PLEASE go to BBB and file a complaint. or the FTC. Or both
When they get enough of these maybe someone will file a lawsuit or the goverment will get involved.

Just dug all my paper work out and gave Philips another call, in early Nov they gave me case number and said I would be put at the top of rebate mailing list. They said I,d have rebate check in 4-6 wks..Now they say it all got sent in on Dec 3 and said to give it another 4-6 wks...

Dear Ms. Chew.

My name is XXXXX and I am a member of two online communities, Anandtech with 80,634 members and "Chubby"Wallet with 17,895 members. I and hundreds of my fellow members have been waiting for five months, since July, for a $40 rebate from Philips. We have recieved multiple promises of payment in 4-6 weeks, all of which have proven to be lies.

Phillips has angered literally hundreds of us over your mishandling of the CDRW $40 rebate. As proof I offer the postings and complaints of hundreds of members. http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=40&threadid=632928 and http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/messageview.cfm?catid=54&threadid=59153 .

I hope you will take the time to read some of these posts. You will see that:
- We recognize that that Philips has been deliberately stonewalling and lying to us.
- We are filing hundreds of complaints with the FTC and the BBB. Philips will have to devote resources to answering these complaints.
- You have alienated a vast community with excellent communications. Many have vowed never to purchase from Philips again. Every time a great deal on a Philips product surfaces the bitter reminder of reprehensible actions of Philips in failing to fill this rebate will be resurfaced.

I hope that your corporation will learn that the proper treatment of consumers is the best policy. The bitter taste of a lifetime of lost customers will remain with you long after the sweetness of retaining a $40 rebate for a few months has past.

Regards, XXXXXX Case # XXXXXX

Well, just called again for the second time. Apparently my info was never sent to promotions. Go figure. Thanks to those that posted this. Apparently it is my responsiblilty to call and make sure these people are doing their jobs so that I receive my check. She said 2 weeks and to call back if my check wasn't sent by then. We will see. I would advise anyone to call back and make sure that their request was forwarded to the promotions department. She even thanked me for calling and was glad because whoever I talked to before just took my information and entered it in the computer so that I could sit in limbo. Man these people need to work on their interoffice communications.

Don't want to depress you. They gave me the same story last month. When I called after 2 wks, they said they don't know when my rebate will be sent but "shouldn't be more then 4-6 weeks".

One statement we CAN make is to purchase Philips products at Best Buy, Circuit city, etc..any place with a 14 day or so money back guarantee. Then after a week, just take it back. After enough returns, some corporate buyer is bound to realize "hey, poeple just don't like Philips products after they get them home and it's not worth our time to deal with all of these returns - I should probably pick another vendor of CD burners, DVD players, monitors...etc.".

I know the routine. I am not to worried about this one. I think that Philips will pay off eventually. I am not happy about this delay, but I am powerless to do anything about it, other than the normal BBB and FTC thing. I will just keep calling them until I receive my money and will think twice before I by a Philips product again.

The BestBuy in our area charges re-stocking fee (15%) if the item is non defective.

If we all send e-mails similar to Lowcarb's, maybe they will speed this thing up a bit.

Check your facts on the return policy:
"A 15% restocking fee will be charged on returns or exchanges of any opened notebook computer, camcorder, digital camera or radar detector which is returned or exchanged, unless defective. "

I believe this would not include any of the items I mentioned. They took back 2 printers I had without any hesitation.

There's a locked thread earlier today from a member that had luck in BB honoring the rebate after calling their HQ. This might work better than continuing to wait on Philips.

It wasn't Best Buy, it was Staples.
In my experience, BB will tell you to go jump in a lake.
Staples might actually do something for you.

Called Philips again today. Said that they e-mail my info on 12/07 to the promotions dept, and that from that date, should be 4-6 wks... so 1st week of the new year I should get the check... I doubt it though... this was for my GF's drive

BTW, the drive that my brother & I bought, in early July (?), we got our rebates... seemed like the rebates sent in later were screwed up.

My theory is that Parago was handling the rebates fine, but due to the overwhelming response, they kept asking Philips for more $$ to send out the rebates, and Philips probably didn't believe them, or got suspicious with the amount of $$$ Parago was requesting... and insisted on seeing the paperwork/database w/ all the rebates sent in... Or Parago was earning a % per rebate fulfilled, and if it's in the 10,000's, Philips feel they're losing money in the rebates and the processing, so Philips want to bring the operation in-house to save $$... Parago got pissed and dumped the unfulfilled rebates on Philips... who probably doesn't have the experience/people to deal w/ the back-log... Still Philips fault though... just my theory, not based on anything whatsoever but my gut feeling...

Sorry Crank, right it was Staples. What was I thinking? I have a hard enough time to get my BB to price match anything with the OD store that's right next to them.

>>>should be 4-6 wks<<<

If I had a nickel for each time all of us have been told '4-6 weeks', I would probably have accumulated enough nickels to take a trip around the world. Seems to be their standard answer, no matter what the question.

Maybe we should all pick a certain day and a certain time for everyone in the thread to call them, and stay on hold until they talk to everyone one of us. If enough of us get together I'm sure it would be pain in the neck to their CSR department. Then we just do that everyday, at a different time we pick, until we get our checks. BWAHAHAHAH!!!!

I spoke to a rep last night, and asked her when the "4 - 6" weeks answer would change to something more definite.

She said they're scheduled to begin using a new script in 4 - 6 weeks~

You know with all the bullsh|t this drive gives people and it doesn't work as specified it sounds like there are grounds for a Lemon Law - Lawsuit against Phillips. With the way this drive DOESN'T work and the way the are FU*KING us all on rebates I think we have grounds.

I sent them another email stating this is my 2nd attempt to contact them (both French and Russ) and that i'm sick of being ignored and will be contacting an attorney after the new year if I don't receive a response. They have $140 of my money and they owe it to me.

I'll let you know what the lawyer says if I do have to contact them.

Anyone want to join a class action lawsuit if possible?

Thanks!

LOL @ jbtech.

Of course the script has a loop built into it so that in 4-6 weeks it goes through the same routine again, just like we do.
