This is after calling in mid November, being given a case number, and an assurance the rebate would be fulfilled within 4-6 weeks by a lowly CSR.

Quite obviously, Philips is stiffing (hundreds, if not thousands of) consumers who aren't aware the best (only?) way to get paid is to email Ms. Russ.

So please, be sure to email the FTC and file a complaint, even if your rebate has been paid. I haven't yet, but I wouldn't be comfortable if I didn't do it. Someone post a form letter if they have it.

There is a thread on Fat Wallet that made it really easy to submit a complaint to the FTC...so easy, that even lazy people like me could do it in under 5 minutes. I'd post a link, but I'm too lazy to find it :Q Should come up in a search over there.

FWIW - Just wanted to share a chuckle. I am reading Straight From The Gut by Jack Welch, former CEO and chairman of GE. Seems he wanted to buy the appliance division of Phillips in the late 80's. The president of Phillips negotiated the deal - then reneged(sp) TWICE !

It's because they're European...maybe in breeding....well, there is a theory that the Europeans, for the most part are totally in-bred; particularlyk, the French, Germans and the "subsequent English" but for the most part the contiguous land mass coutries...Frenchies, Germanic and the romancers led by the Spanish and Italians....they're all pretty much goofed up...I know; I lived there and with them. They'll ponticate well, but their lives are all goofed....

i would not recommend philips product either. i bought external cd-rw from them about 2 years ago. they already decided not to support the model if it is out of the warranty. not even driver updates. the official site has no downloads for windows XP drivers. i called them and they said i had to call certain number and pay 19.95 to get support. that is just out right rediculous!!!

no more philips for me!!!

I finally received my rebate check after 5 months. The check was printed the day after I sent the email to Natalie and postmarked a day after that. However I receieved no reply from my email so I was surprised to see the check come today

Overall, I'd shy away from Philips' products now. The CD-RW is way too picky about media and has even stalled my system because it would take it several minutes to "detect" whether a disk was in the drive or not. (and yes, I have latest firmware and decent system)

Oh well, I'm wishing you guys luck to those who haven't received their checks yet.

Just talked to a very nice woman named Tina, she took my name, address, phone number and told me that I would receive my check within 10 weeks. Ugh, well it's better than never!

I know it's a shot in the dark, but I'm tired of waiting for my rebate since September; I went ahead and e-mailed Natalie. Wonder if anyone is contemplating a class-action against Phillips?

I e-mailed Natalie in december and I was told my check would be here in 48hrs, still no check as of today. Last night I e-mailed her again and they are going to fed-ex the check. I think I need to take the $40 and buy a few cases of beer to forget this whole incident.

I emailed her on a Saturday, got a reply the next Monday, and got the check that Friday.
