With a minimal install - forget RedHat, Mandrake, Suse, etc... Personally I'd recommend OpenBSD, Debian, or Slackware.

This is a hot deal? I mean, even if these were brand new, is
there anyone here who would actually buy one of these? Not
play devil's advocate on the side of what you MIGHT do with
one. But someone who would actually buy one? Yes, you
can put certain small Linux implementations on one. Yes, you
could run Windows 3.1 on one. But why? Even for a crap server
I'd want more space and the ability to run all the standard Linux
distributions these days...

Not to mention that these are used, old as crap, and slow as
molasses.

My first hard drive (IBM PS2 286) was 20MB! However, I did run Stacker on it to get it to 30MB or so...

Heheheh...I remember back in the day when that was HUGE!!!! Remember when they used to sell PC's with 100 or 150 meg HD's and sell them as "200" or "240"'s because they were compressed (ahhh....good old Doublespace ). In 1990 we got a 33mhz 486 server with 32 megs of RAM and a 150 MB hard drive, and we thought it was a friggin' Cray super computer! The thing cost like $12000 too!

I think we're using it as a table leg now......
