Update: TDK 12/10/32 Rebate issue with Buy.com

The form definitely came from TDK. That's the only place I knew of a form being available (at the time). It's kinda hard to prove (one just clicks on the link and prints it out). Guess I should've let IE print out all the extra stuff on the page (date, link, etc).

I'm usually a lurker, but I feel I must reply to this thread.

My TDK rebate form from www.tdk.com/rebate/rebatevelo.html
dated 1/8/2001 7:51 PM does NOT say ANYTHING about
"participating dealer" anywhere on the two page print out.

I didn't save the HTML, I just printed it out, and since I don't have a scanner it would be tough for me to make copies for everybody who's going to ask.

But somebody else did. If you check this thread look for a message from sellar678 on page 1. He saved the html and put it up on his web page.

Of course, TDK may not honor those rebates. If the invoice date is after they changed the rebate form you could be out of luck anyway, regardless of whether or not the form has a date and url printed on it.

THIS IS A RUMOR! I called up TDK this afternoon, 2 different times, and got 2 different people to say that the rebate is valid... so stop scaring people... yeesh!

I don't know if anyone is keeping a tally or whatnot, but i called yesterday, 9:04AM EST, right after they opened, and the woman that I spoke to confirmed that buy.com was participating...if only I had a recorded tape of that...grr

i just wanted to say that the rebate form changed three time in the last week or so.
the first i got was on 1/13/01 and it did not say anything about "Product may be purchased from any participating retailer" then the second one did say "Product may be purchased from any participating retailer". now it seems that it says "Product must be purchased from a TDK account that has approval for this program."

how is this good "PR" what kind of company can change it rebates at will just because that want to. i can see a misprint but come on enough is enough.

i bought mine on the 15 but i do not know which rebate i sent in was it the first or the second but i know that i did read it the first time and it did not say anything about approved account.:|

I also called up the TDK 800 number and was told that they are not honoring the $50.00 if I bought it from BUY.COM after 12/31/00. I asked why and she said they are no longer a participating company. I said there is nothing I can do to get the $50.00 rebate, she said no.

This is the truth. I will call back again tonight. Since then I canceled my order with BUY.COM. Since it is on backorder hopefully they will be able to cancel it.

Weird, my form says nothing of "participating retailers" I just checked (now lost an envelope ). Was going to send it in tomorrow, and I'm still going to. My form just says "Buy 12x VeloCD and get $50 back!" even in smalltext...
