Update ** TDK VeloCD 12x/10x/32x CD-RW with "Burn Proof" $149 with free shipping after rebate

There's only one problem with buying the TDK (even though I put in an order for it myself). The rebate says that "requests must be postmarked within 30 days of the purchase date." That means we need to receive the TDK within 3.5 weeks so that we can send it in time. Do you think we'll get it by then?

I don't know about the Chia and Japan stickers, but the Plextor, TDK, and IOmega drives are rebadged Samsung drives. Ya Samsung manufactures the drives, "burnproof" is their technology. That may shed some light on the Japan/China sticker issue...I honestly don't know.

I just bought the TDK w/50 CDR's package from buy.com for something like $229 - 30 off 150 - 50 MIR + tax and shipping = $170 )i hate living in CA sometimes).

Ya...and there is no such thing as "thread crapping" in Hot Deals. Samsung isn't the manufacturer. Sanyo licenses "Burnproof" technology and supplies supporting ICs to Plextor who makes these particular drives.

Has anyone who ordered this drive gotten "shipped" status yet? I ordered it on Friday evening and it still says, "shipment pending?"

Thier site shows the burner as "In Stock" but my order still says product is backordered and I got an email today saying as such. Hopefully it's only because of a delay between the product status update and updating order status. Can't wait to get this burner. Many thanks to the jskibo for this thread.

I think these are shipped right out of Salt Lake City. We have a huge gateway warehouse here and I had to pay $14 in sales tax. I ordered mine on the 5th, checked my order status tonight and it still says back ordered. But I did recieve an email stating that the drive should ship on the 13th.

Just got the same email stating it's on backorder. Not gonna cancel. They're probably out of synch with the inventory department since the drive was and is still re-listed as in stock as of this afternoon.

I just got off the phone with Necx Direct(1-800-808-3375). I told the representative how when I ordered the VeloCD it was not in stock, then I got an email yesterday telling me the product was on backorder, but thier web site shows the VeloCD as in stock. So he does some checking then came back on the phone and told me that he was going to switch distributors on my order. He then gave me a new order number and told me that my VeloCD should ship today.

Everyone that has one of these on back order might want to give them a call and see if they will do the same for you.

I got my VeloCD from buy and I am successfully writing at 10x for CD-RW over the network without any failure.

For those who have already ordered this drive, rest assured .. It is an excellent drive. For those who haven't already ordered, I would suggest that you stop thinking twice and order right away

My Velocd arrived a few minutes ago. Nice deal!

I ordered Sat from Gateway. After I ordered I got the out of stock email. Didn't get any email saying it was instock or shipping. But it arrived. I didn't call up and bitch and moan or anything. Just sat tight.

That's the fastest out of stock ground delivery I have ever gotten.

I'd plug it in, if only I had a computer to plug it into.

When oh when are those DDR or 266fsb SDRAM mobos going to hit the net???

Well the NecX Direct rep I talked to this morning didn't lie to me. I just checked my order status and it shows my VeloCD has been shipped. This is my first time dealing with NecX(have only used Buy and Onsale/Egghead in the past for online ordering) and I am most impressed by them.

I ordered mine late on the the 5th. It showed as "in stock" but on sunday showed "out of stock". Monday it was back in stock, but backordered...wtf? It finally did ship on the 12th even though it still says it is "backordered". Damm I was hoping to have it already. I am tired of making 45 minute coasters with my 4x4x24.

Anyway, I am glad it is coming... They must have gotten bombed with orders.
