The TDK rebates are right here, including the ones for the CDR's and the drives. BTW, save the coupon for the 100 pack, since Costco B&M has the TDK 100 pack beginning 2/19 @ $44.99 - $12.00 (register) - $20.00 MIR = $12.99, and I think those are the ones made in Japan. They mailed out a coupon booklet, but the MIR shows as only $18, so it's better to use the TDK coupon.

Has anyone in California ordered and recieved this drive from NECX (Gateway Accessory) Store? I ordered mine on Saturday Jan. 6 and haven't recieved it yet.

The UPS tracking information said it had been "delivered" in Texas and hasn't changed since that appeared. So I called Gateway and they told me orders going to California had to be shipped to Texas and then off to California to comply with California "regulations"....(Could this be them trying to evade California sales taxes because they have stores here?)

So I assume they've reshipped my drive from Texas (my call was about 4 days ago) to California, but they did not add another tracking number to my order information page, so I have no clue where it is right now.

Has anyone else had similar problems to this and figured out a way to resolve them?

My order from necx will be arriving on Thursday to CA according to my UPS tracking number. It came directly from TN, shipped last Thursday. They didn't "reship" my package to Texas or anything. That's really an odd problem. I didn't get charged tax or anything.

Looking forward to getting my drive!!!!

Could not stand it any longer, missed out on the Plextor deal, and my Yamaha 8x4x24 will not even recognize a blank CD.

Went for the buy.com TDK with 50 blank CD's. To be able to burn a CD while doing something else, wow.

Very few people need to rename the TDK... mostly to get around older or discontinued software programs that know of the Plextor but not the TDK.

I personally wouldn't do it. The iomega at $99 - yes, but not the TDK at $150 As you point out, Iomega's support is not nearly as good... that is why the hack started there. I wish Iomega included Nero and not that crappy Adaptec stuff.

Some people, mostly the game duplicating types, like the piece of mind the rename provides.

I called TDK and they will give you both the $50 and the $10 rebates for the bundle, just send them in different envelopes with a copy of the receipt in each.

I just talked to Gateway acessory store because my order has not moved from the warhouse yet. They said I could not cancel my order unless the product was back ordered. They told me to refuse the shipment when it showed up and they would refund the money to my cc in 1-2 billing cycles. I was like wtf? If anyone has successfully cancelled their order let me know how you did it.

BoBandCompany, same thing happened to me, I elected to go with the VeloCD 16x drive, and this one had been on back order a week, and still was on back order when I emailed them to cancel the drive. They emailed me the next day, apologized and said that it's to late it went out that day. (how convenient) They said to refuse shipment and I would see a refund on my CC. Shipping on top of that took 1 week (7-days ago) it left the warehouse. I decided to accept the cd burner and use it until I get my 16x which at that time I will return it. (at least get something for my trouble) I personally don't think I will shop through the NECX (Gateway Accessory) Store. Buy.com came out with a better deal on this burner no sooner than 2 days after I ordered. Ohh well thats my rant! :disgust:

Just like someone said earlier... Is the 16X really worth the extra diffrence? How much faster is it then the 12 ?

I read the 16x is theoretically 3min faster then the 12x, but it was actually around 50secs faster. The 16x is new remember, and the 12x has been around for awhile and has good firmware. I am going with the 12x in the next few days personally.

Do you think it'd be worthwhile to wait for prices to drop even more? Both rebates are valid until March 31st, and the price dropped from 259 before rebate last week to 214 before rebate now.

I ordered mine from buy.com on the 15th, got it on the 17th.

Very Nice. It comes with a CD marking pen, small L wrench (so you won't have to use a paper clip to eject CD's), and a dummies video.

Yup I had the same problem. I live in CA and they shipped it from Jacksonville, FL to Irving, TX. I called them up yesterday and told them that some idiot signed for it in TX. Then they told me that it was their warehouse. They'll ship it from TX to CA. I don't know why they do it this way. So don't worry. They told me I'll get it in another 3 days. Put in an order for it on the 10th of jan.

I do not see why any boxed retail drive would not comply......

Beware! Buy.com is out of these and their system does not tell you its on backorder. If you have ordered one of these and your status says "warehouse" your order is sitting in limbo land. Call and cancel it because they are out of stock and they don't have any on order. I had to cancel mine.

I would double check the warehouse by calling. I order a lot from them and I have things appear to sit there for up to 24 hours when they have shipped. I guess it is how they update the database link.
