Thank you all so much. I read these to my wife and she tears up and understands that we have a camaraderie here, something more than bits and bytes. I can cry with the best of them, and the gates have not really opened again since I knew she was going last night. It hurts the worst when I see brothers and sisters and family. I know that they know that they hurt and I hurt and bam!
Sounds like something from "Get Smart"
Humor was a big thing for my mom, and playing around. I had a 1970 dodge Challenger in High School, and I was getting into a bit of trouble with it. One day she said let's go to the store, and suggested we take my car. Then she wanted to drive.
OK, no problem. She backs out of the driveway, puts it in drive and then totally hammers it! There is tire smoke and some sideways action and I'm all "mom mom MOM" and reaching over and she lets it off and looks over smiling sweetly and winks, and says "gotcha son!"
Another good one: I had a fairly conservative friend, and she offered to take us to the movies when we were about 13. She took us to see "blazing Saddles" and I think she got more out of my friend's embarrassment at the fart scene and dirty humor in front of my mom than she got out of the movie itself. He was totally conflicted, laughing at it all but red faced about it. That had to be a total setup.
