No I want balance. My point is not that I think the Iranians are good but that America overall tends to work in black and white which is terrible. Because of that we have never even made much diplomatic talk with the Iranians. We sold them weapons even when we were not talking to them. So what I want is not to support them over Sunni countries but to stop treating them as black enemies and interact with them as equally as we do with the Sunni countries. As for the article that is why I put out some cautious words because I could tell the article was out there as far as not being realistic or relative but I mentioned it because we have lots of articles of the same shit but from the other side so I thought it was a viewpoint that was good to read for balance.
I completely understand and agree with your viewpoint here, and I wasn't talking actually about your opinion rather than some other Western analysts.

This was the article I thought I put up with that comment. Plus I do not want the Iranians to own that area but there are numerous independent and diverse sects in that area that the Saudi government is oppressing. Fact is that the Southwest Saudi Arabian areas need to have their own countries along with the North Yemen communities. The North Yemen dictator conquering South Yemen just because he could and also to add to his power was in the long run just fucking terrible for everyone.

Why they would do that, it would be their worst decision ever made in their entire history.
People of Najran & Gizan cities in the far southern part are well known to be in close ties with Yemen, but calling for independence? This is something never heard of before, and I do work actually with few Shiites from there.

Very few Americans base their vote in any way on US policy towards Israel and the ones who do and weren't hard core republican voters anyway live in overwhelmingly blue states for the most part.

I doubt it will have a meaningful impact on the presidential election. You have the evangelicals who love Israel who weren't going to vote for a Democrat anyway and then you have the orthodox who usually live in blue states.

People just don't care about Israel that much. That's probably something Israel should keep in mind too, haha.

I think you're wrong about that.

I lived in the Southeast on and off for decades. Many Democratic voters down here are blue collar Baptists. There are tons of them. You can't throw down here without hitting a Baptist church. I could elaborate why they vote but don't have the time atm.

I believe if Obama pushes the Israel thing too far he's going to lose some of these voters. It won't really be him that loses them. he ain't running. But he may create a problem for the Democratic candidates still involved in elections.

Evangelicals, especially in the south, have been a mainstay of the Republican party since at least the late 70's

Southern Evangelicals: Dwindling—and Taking the GOP Edge With Them

"Midterm elections are all about turning out base constituencies. Over the last few decades, there have been few more reliable voters for Republicans than white evangelical Protestants. This year, however, GOP candidates may be getting less help from this group—not because white evangelical Protestants are becoming less supportive or less motivated, but simply because they are declining as a proportion of the population, even in Southern states.

White evangelical Protestants have remained a steadfast Republican constituency in both presidential and midterm congressional elections ever since the Reagan presidency, which marked what political scientists Merle and Earl Black dubbed “the great white switch.” In 2008 and 2012, roughly three-quarters of white born-again Christians supported GOP nominees John McCain (73 percent) and Mitt Romney (78 percent). In the 2010 midterm election, similar numbers of white born-again Christians (77 percent) supported the GOP House candidate in their districts."

haha i may have taken a few liberties with my rhetoric, but the general gist of what i would like to convey is as follows:

israel as it stands today is an abomination that perpetuates war and death and terrorism on a global scale. it is probably the single greatest cause of human strife in the last quarter century and it is only getting worse. israel's government, duly elected by the racist israeli people, has stated that it has no intention of giving statehood to the people they have displaced, nor does it plan to integrate them into its own society. they cannot vote, they are stateless refugees living behind a huge wall in a state that openly states its intention to irradicate them. its own leader has admitted to perpetuating a massive campaign of delay and disinformation and calling it a 'peace process', with his own stated goal being the exact opposite of what he told the world community for years. the more i write, the worse it sounds to me and i could go on, and on, and on

the state must be forced to give up its racist character or be occupied by the united states and forced to comply. we will dismantle their nation like we did the japanese, except it will be bloodless and quick. however much israel is capable of controlling us, we are even moreso capable of controlling it

i dont understand why israel isnt our bitch. they should rightfully do whatever our president asks them. they owe us their very existence, they owe us their lives and look how they act. like they own us. i anxiously await obama's decision on how to deal with these insolent israelis

Please stop this warhawk talk before you cause more US sailors to lose their lives in an unwinnable fight against Israel's military might.

OP is a lunatic. Hezbollah is still a terrorist organization according to the United States, they're just not likely to threaten the US in the next year.

Also, LOL if you think NATO/UN troops will be doing anything.

Fixed that for you.

Was thinking of the Shiites since it seems the coastal Arabians are Sunni whether they have any ancestral roots in Yemen or not. Know anything about this guy at all?

just posted an update. mcain is threatening to 'defund the UN' if this goes down but it looks like Obama might make an all out push and allow the ICC and UN to possibly step in and force a two state solution.

uh oh israel, guess you shouldn't have kept voting in a bigot?

It does no good to force a two state solution if either side does not want it.

Will the "State of Palestinian" accept responsibilities for it's actions?

Has the PA ever?

Two state solution would be great. If there is something truly needed in the Middle East, it's one more failing nation state being run by barbaric savages who look to the 7th century as their touchstone for how to live in the 21st. Whose favorite pasttimes include such classically liberal sports as stoning jews, oppressing women and treating them like property, and deliberately allowing their innocents to be "martyred" to generate propaganda talking points.

I think it's wonderful though that American progressives are coming around this way of thinking. Before long I'm sure in your local elections instead of voting for guys like Jerry Brown and Bernie Sanders, you'll be pulling the lever for guys who share the Palestinian values you champion; like the guys who beat Matthew Shepard to death for being gay or dragged James Byrd to death behind a pickup truck.

This is good for two reasons. First, it's nice to see the US finally (hopefully?) coming around to a better position on the issue for both us and Israel. It's time to stop enabling them on this issue.

Second, it's pretty satisfying to watch Obama put the screws to Netanyahu.

And that is why Obama is becoming more & more of a failure along with his hooligan cheerleaders,

turning screws on leaders for personal/team satisfaction in the middle east is a disastrous mentality,

but just like Bush, Obama hasn't learned this either and the people end up suffering, while something worse rears its head.

You should read better. I would not support putting the screws to Netanyahu if I thought the overall policy was bad.

In this case it looks like we're putting forward a better policy and it has the added benefit of putting Netanyahu in his place. If we're lucky this means we get better policy AND we remind our good friend Bibi of his place in the world.

What better policy?

Holding Israel accountable and letting the Palestinians have a free pass?

True. That's as it should be if we're being honest with ourselves. We all know that Israel has been fucking the Pals for 50 years, since 1948, TBH, so we need to cut through the Holocaust guilt trip bullshit & figure out if we really want to support that or not.
