i went to Atlanta FRY's tonite (or last nite should i say) at around 9:00pm. walked in there and saw the seagates going for like $89.99 without rebates. could be wrong tho considering the fact i was kinda tipsy at the moment and in a rush to get me a mobo b4 the store closed

Gonna go down tomorrow to check it out... Hopefully the old stock has been cleared out by the sale 2 weeks ago and these new 200GB will have the 5 year warranty. Gotta check the serial number. Also $.99 cent 6-pack Coke, and tempted by this $39.99 AR 512MB SD card. Anybody knows if this PQI brand is good/bad? Gonna use it on Tungsten E. I think more people recommend Panasonic and Lexar for SD cards for good read/write speeds.

$89.95 was for 80GIG IDE out the door RETAIL BOX 8MB cache

Interestingly, it said on bags "content made in China"
I guess they mean HDD

Everyone was mumbling about the "something" drives being out of stock, so i wonder if the deal was on Fri and they cleaned out that days inventory.

fyi have bought 2 of these 200's from outpost over the last couple of weeks. both were listed as "5-yr warranty" on website but showed up at my door as only 1-yr warranty, confirmed by seagate... the 2nd was a replacement for the first after i raised enough of a stink....so far outpost has not been able to get me a 5-yr warranty drive i want, and has not been very cooperative, i will be pursuing refunds...

I cant believe that Fry's has had these hard drives for over a year!!!!

My guess is the warrenty is 5 YEARS.

yeah, i know this new seagate warranty is very confusing, and a little misleading. seagate has a warranty verification page here, just plug in your serial # and it spits back your warranty, no negotiation...bottom line is that drives shipped to retailers before 7/26 have the 1-yr warranty as warranty is based on ship date from seagate to the retailer, NOT to the buyer. first drive seagate sent was 5/7 date and the 2nd was 7/7, so both had 1-yr warranty only. it appears to me that outpost is offering these sweet deals to unload these older drives. btw when you call outpost they will insist the drive is covered by 5-yr warranty, but seagate says no. who would you trust? if your drive croaks 2 years from now seagate is the one that you will have to deal with, not outpost

have read that others have found the newer 5-yr warranty drives in stock at best buy, if getting the longer warranty is important to you. maybe buy one from each and return the outpost drive to best buy (if necessary) and you'll be all set, plus have the enjoyment of sticking it to best buy

We been dup. Clearly, the bottom line can be much lower. We (those without Fry like East coast) have benn paying too much over price for RAM, HD, MB etc...
