Thanks for the post. I hear Google has something like this with their search engine but who can touch 30% ? I'd been looking at the Gretsch Catalina Drum sets ($750) and Ebay has been the cheapest place I've found anyway. Now I should get $200 back just in time for christmas.

If I follow through with the auction through buy it now. Is it still valid for the cashback?

As far as my understanding or the terms and conditions, it lets you know at each stage through the transaction if your purchase is valid towards to cashback program. It stated on each page up to confirm to buy that my purchase was legit. Sign-up was easy and there were not any nasty surprises launched at me upon completion. (Which is what I was leary of).

Approximately 12 hours later I received email from Microsoft that transaction will be pending for 60 days after which the funds would be released to me.

Ive had 2 purchases work through this and did get my money back from Microsoft. Just add another 2 weeks onto the 60 days it takes to get it back as MS doesn't send the money for another 2 weeks after you hit the pay me now button.

Like all rebates I consider the money saved when I spend but never feel all that satisfied when I finally get paid. That being said this deal has saved me about $400 dollars over the last 60+ days. I am just waiting for MS to actually pay me.

Thanks to OP!

well, the money I "saved" from this never went back to my back account. I spend it on something else as soon as MS pays me..
so I'm not sure if I"m saving any money at all, just more PC junk for my collection.

Hah, much like me. I usually cash all my rebates instead of going to ATM.

Same with this. I finally got my cashback in my paypal account practically on the same day when 30% comes back and spend it on eeepc 1000h. So yeah, the money never made it back into my account, but fully equipped 1000h (10", 160GB, bluetooth, b/g/n and 6 cell battery) for $336 after cashback isn't that bad either.

Oh no...not this again. I'm not sure how much more my wallet can take. (Spent about $325 on ebay the last time around, should get about $100 back from that in about two weeks.)

I'm not even sure what I'd buy though...I've already bought a camera and (substantially) upgraded my computer in the past 2 months or so. Maybe it's better that I can't think of anything.

I'm with you. Last time around I bought 2 tivo's and a digital camera...this morning I've already jumped on a gps and a 360...must resist buying a new laptop...

I already cashed out $100 from some computer parts I bought a few months ago. Now I want to buy 2 ipods. Problem is that I want them engraved and I don't think you can do that from buying off an Ebay vendor. Is it worth $60 for me to have it engraved? Hm.....

They also decreased the max from $250 down to $200.

Well there goes my hopes of it working for getting a PS3 for cheap.

What?! You'd have to spend over $670 to max out the $200 per item limit...that's a pricey PS3...

I did max it out this morning...I need to stop visiting this forum! I blow SO much cash saving money! lol

Does anybody know how good this is for, like how long did this last before when Microsoft offered 30% off?

If anybody reads this and knows the answer, can you please post a message, I'm looking at buying a $700 TV and getting $200 off, but I don't know if this deal will still be around tomorrow.

When it was at 25%, usually the % went down for the weekends then went back up. There was no real pattern though. No one knows how long it will stay at 30%, so if you're going to buy something do it now while you still can.

I wholeheartedly agree with this statement. 30% off is the deal of the year .. no matter if you receive it 74 days after purchase .. or immediately. Currently I'm tapped out from recent purchases but I'm chompin' at the bit to return to adding to the GDP

FWIW I recall reading somewhere that MS intends to continue the Cashback program until at least Jan 1, but I wouldn't count on 30% being around for much longer than this weekend.

My loot so far:

1. Two 32" Sharp 1080P TV's for $727.97 each with a savings of $200 for each one

2. GE Profile 36" Gas cooktop for $850 with $200 savings

3. Garmin Nuvi 850 for $425 with a savings of $127.50

4. And a sink Faucet for $130 with a savings of $39

Final Result = Huge credit card bill and I hope to god I get all the cashback and MS doesn't screw me

Now watch this cash back deal increase to 35% or 40% and then I will be really pissed, but I doubt MS would go that high.

It was at 35% a few months ago, so it's possible.

I've gotten all of my cashback so far that I was supposed to get. Over $450. Got another $200 to go. So it is working.

Just got the email from Microsoft/PayPal - Money has arrived, so five days from request if anyone is interested in how long they delay payments once requested.
