They use a 3rd party checkout. ebay wants you to use paypal so they can get more fees.

I checked again and BUY's ebay store uses paypal, in fact it's the only way to purchase stuff off their ebay store.

Do you need to make a second live.com cashback account too, or once you make the purchase on the new ebay account, and it sends you the link in the ebay message, can you just enter your existing live.com info and have it all linked together?

Anyway, I picked up the akg - 701 as well

So far I have gotten cashback on
shoes (when they had 47% off on one of the general sites)
ps3 (25% + 10% coupon ebay)
coffee grinder (30% ebay)
akg-701 (30% ebay)

I would say you are correct in that most people will not use their search engine, but that could just be a small factor in the scheme of things. I know when I talk about it with friends or tell someone about it, I don't say live search cashback (mostly because nobody knows what live search is), I say microsoft cashback. It definitely makes me like MS as a company Maybe all the word of mouth is worth the cash.

How much do you think MS spends on advertising campaigns? How much did Seinfeld cost? A small portion of people will actually max out the $1200 on each account. If MS set out just 50million it would take 40,000+ people maxing out their cashback to reach that amount.

Lets set a more realistic $300 cashback for each person. That's more than 160,000 people MS just made happy. Those people probably talked about their new fancy gadgets they just got for cheap.

Bottom line is I'm pretty sure that the price per a sure thing in making someone happy with MS as a company is financially sound move.

Just scored an e5200 to complete my Blu-Ray encoding rig for $70 after CB. My only other purchase was a WD 1TB drive for $88 after CB. Both on 30%. I've done pretty good so far to avoid too much temptation, but this deal really needs to go away. I can't take too much more of this.

No, go to live.com and type in a popular search, such as "ipod touch" and click the 30% link that you'll see, hopefully, at the top of the page. Log into your eBay account, if you haven't done so already, and you should see the 30% banner on your eBay pages.

I do not have the answer but to make sure I did. Here is how it goes.

2 eBay accounts
2 Live accounts
1 PayPal account.

If MS is going to do some cross checking to weed out multiple accounts I am OK since the each eBay account has a separate email address as does the Live account. Of course you cannot setup multiple PayPal accounts to receive payments without a lot of trouble (separate bank accounts) but each separate email is connected to the same PayPal so if MS has a back-door or PayPal is sharing information then I do not see how. But if you check the T&C there is one line that I question or is confusing.

I went ahead with a 7th purchase because on the review page I wasn't informed that I had exceeded the limit and so far everything has gone through. It was a smaller purchase and I printed the review page as proof in case I have any problems later on, but I'm wondering why it would happen, maybe I just got lucky?
