Microsoft has something like $40 billion in cash on their balance sheet, I think they'll be fine.

Ya but they didnt get that 40 billion by being stupid and just giving money away. Thats basically what this cashback is heh. Im just saying, their costs seem to out weigh their benefits. What are they getting from this? People using their search engine? whoopdido....
Im not saying they dont have benefits, maybe they have a deal with ebay or something. I dunno...I wasnt at the corporate meeting.
Im just saying, im skeptical this thing will last very long. Milk it while you can?

I haven't no. It doesn't effect the sellers at all so why would they jack up their prices? You still pay the sellers full price, you just get money back from microsoft. It doesn't discount anything on the seller's end.
So there's a couple things possibly happening here:
a.) you're full of shit
b.) holiday time causes price increase
c.) newegg is having some decent sales on what you were looking at
d.) the prices have always been high and you're just now noticing

I've noticed that prices are higher, especially one's that list the ability to save money using the live.com deal. A couple of items I'm interested are considerably higher than any online stores.

Sorry, I should mention I haven't really looked at ebay a whole lot until just now so haven't had much time to notice it. I still haven't, but I guess it might not just be the holidays.

Not really. He asked if we noticed a price increase and I honestly with the few things I was just looking at, did not. After people said they have, I thought I should point out I might not be the best source of info. And I still think what I originally said holds true, that the MS cashback program shouldn't be effecting the sellers as it's only MS giving away money not a discount on the price that effects the seller.
