DOH! In another week I'd be getting several hundred back from an earlier purchasing spree. Was going to use that to fund more purchases. At 15%, may as well buy from a normal discount retailer for a couple bucks more.

Here's a funny one: Was just talking to a co-worker yesterday about this. He bought something from Ebay with cashback and it was drop shipped to him from Amazon. I get home to find that I had received Rock Band... in an Amazon box and with a gift receipt with it. Amazon sells it for $99.99 with free shipping and no tax. I purchased it on Ebay for $107 with free shipping and no tax... minus 30% (instant cashback, as it were). I guess people are making out like bandits with the cashback.

lots of people were doing that. When i got my iTouch (actually....it just turned to my gf's iTouch ), they were all over retail price...I luckily found one for under retail and just bought it asap.

Yeah I heard the same thing yesterday from a coworker whose sis bought a Garmin GPS from the bay and got it gifted from Amazon.
I don't get it though, how is the seller making money? Ebay and PP fees would be around $10 for this (?), so they must have some way of getting these from Amazon at a discount.

I was going to do that myself (but never got around to it, I was too lazy...) as I had purchased too many amazon GCs using cashback. So ~25% on amazon GCs and 4% for an affiliate link (might not work) and it's not too bad even after all the fees (especially since you don't have to pay for shipping). However, after one of the $50 GCs simply vanished from my account I got worried that the other GCs might also vanish so I bought 3 Wii's and Wii Fits (unfortunately they don't stay on amazon long enough to drop ship them to a customer). I don't think I'll ever do that again as it's simply not worth the hassle to make a couple bucks.

It's not over. Just search for cheap wii, cheap ps3, western digital, whatever. Keep reloading the search page (F5) until you get the 15% link.

I ended up spending a lot more than I planned, but one of the things I was going was upgrading my home stereo and now that I've got a few new pieces, I really want to upgrade my surrounds. That extra 15% sure would be nice!

I am sure glad I rushed my alarm system purchase with the mediocre 15% saved me 30 some bucks, it's no 30% but we take what we can get and to hell with their market share
