Hi all,

Please help with my final cooling question

Soyo KT-600 Dragon Plus
Barton 2600 Retail
Antec 2600 (300 watt pw)
Radeon 9200
512 2700

Computer will only be used for web surfing, email, some light games, Office work.

Consistent Temp read are as follows:

CHA Temp 30c-34
CPU Temp 38c(idol)-46 (This after running prime 95)

I can't install any case fans now and the future owner is leaving tonight to go home. She lives 160 miles away and it would be great if I can safely give her the computer.

MY QUESTION!!!

Sandra is reading Power/Aux temperatures all over the place. Last reading was 60c previous was 22c previous to that was 70c, previous to that was 18c NOW STEADY AT 60c

Is this dangerous levels?

Thanks so much in advance, Leigh

what do you mean by you have no fans?

what is your ambient room temp?

what is your cpu idle temp?

that temp is ok after running a long load.

No case fans installed yet. ( CPU temp is 38-40. Idle at 34. Was 46 running prime 95.
Case temps is around 31
Side case is open. Just was playing around with it before installing the front and rear fans.

Should not be a problem. Most motherbaords do not get flakey until after 55°C. Asus and Intel recommend case temps be under 125°F or 52°C. I assume that is just for the fact that the processor has to draw from that air to cool itself also. This leaves 18°C headroom for the cpu before Thermal Throttling sets in

on my abit kv7 i believe the temp was measured on the power mosfets so my case temp was reported was rather high. normally 50's-60's c. with no airflow over the chips they got up to 70's c. so if your chipset is the kt600 it may measure temps in the same place?

That seems right if you don't have any fans installed. If you are still getting piss poor temps with fans installed, make sure your BIOS are up to date, because sometimes there is a problem with the way the temps are read. After updating the BIOS on my Asus A7V333 for the first time, both case and CPU temps came down 10 degrees.

Uninstall SiSoft Sandra, and the actual problem here is solved. It's got no way of finding out what your PSU temperature is, and the fact that it tries to pretend it does know is just more evidence that it's worthless.

Hi Mech,

Thanks. BTW. If this computer blows up in my friends face I am blaming you. I used your tutorial to build it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, So I am ok to go on this? I did download Aida 32 and it does show some kind of warning but those temps are also fluctuating like crazy.
