Looks okay .... but this model's list price is 39.99 even at rip stores like Best Buy.

So yes ... you do save a $10 but ... not a great deal .... can get it if you really need it.

BS, this product is def worth $30 bux. I have it and it is really nice. you can "hot swap" your keyboard and mouse without either machine freaking out too. I have this set up with one machine that is always runing then the other connection I leave open for whatever. this is invaluable if you EVER rebuild or work on computers b/c you can hot key over to working good machine and surf/find answers to probs etc. good buy for anyone who works with more than one machine but doesn't have a 5ft long desk tp put multiple periphs.

As long as you will have no future needs for additional ports, this KVM does the trick. I've installed several of them at work, and recently picked up an additional one for use with my homeworking PC. No complaints.

KVM's with USB/audio/onscreen are much more expensive usually. Anyway, why do you want USB keyboards and mice - what else do you use your PS/2 ports for?

Something I've never understood - the point of USB keyboards/mice - probably is no point, that's why they all come with PS/2 adaptors....

KVM's are really nice (I have a TRENDnet TK-400 4-port which is lovely) the only thing you have to watch is that they support decent resolutions like 1280x1024+.

If you're really cheap you can go for Win2VNC or x2vnc and TightVNC software (free - do a search).

This is definitely worth $30 though as it has integrated cables - you ever seen the price of cables for a KVM?

Lots of computers now don't have PS/2 ports, like laptops. Therefore, a KVM that supports USB is pretty nice. I got this Belkin KVM with USB and Audio for free that works nice (freebee from Belkin rep) that works really well. You do need to get your own KVM cables, so I found some really cheap on the net.

For a USB KVM, I've been interested in this one. Decent price, and 4 ports. I have not used it, but considered it since I want to be able to move a few periphs with my when I change computers.

The main reason I wanted to get a USB keyboard was to be able to use the USB ports on my keyboard, but if I plug it into a PS2 KVM, I can ALSO use the usb ports as a USB hub on one computer by plugging the USB cable in too.

My work laptop is a small Dell Lattitude, and it has one PS2 port and one USB port. So with this KVM I could hook up one or the other, but not both.

Right now I use my USB port to hook up my USB keyboard, and plug my USB mouse into one of the two USB ports on the keyboard.

Besides... gamers like USB mice because the sampling rate can be higher than PS2, and thus can give more accurate control.

With that Dell Latitude, I bet you can get a PS/2 Y cable so you can use a PS/2 keyboard and mouse at the same time. You can do that with my IBM Thinkpad. You should be able to get this cheaper, but here is a link.

I don't know if anyone else is using their kvm like me? I intended it as a replacement for the all the stuff have set up to build and test any new systems I build. Trouble is many times while a system is booting for the first time it maybe looking for keyboard or mouse and if I hit the scroll button from time to time ...... IT goes dead on one system and I am stuck I either have to reach around and uplug all the wires or power off one of the two systems... Very agrravating! Don't get me wrong I love the idea, but I am wondering if this is a shortcuming of all these SCROLL LOCK type KVM switches?

The port speed is faster. For the kb, it makes no difference. However with a mouse if you are overly concerned with the refresh rate of the mouse (higher sample rate results in more accurate duplication of hand motion) the increased speed offered by USB is actually a nice jump. Twitch gamers can't live without usb mice.

I get 200hz in windows xp on ps/2, I think USB is limited to 125 hz or something like that.

Not that anyone can really tell after 100hz, I can't really, but I use ps/2 anyways.

Come to think of it, I think USB was better than ps/2 for some other reason, there was a thread about it awhile ago... (probahly many different threads about it)

I agree on the IOGear, I have their older 2 port model and use it to switch between main computer and server. I have a PS2 keyboard that I connect with a PS2 to USB adapter which works great. The IOGear supports very high resolution so I didn't notice any difference in my 17" LCD display. From their website, the newer IOGear (link above) has even better keyboard emulation.

I am pleased with mine and would recomend this to anyone looking for an easy way to share a Keyboard, Monitor, and mouse with 4 computers/laptops.

PS/2 (IBM/Toshiba) to KB/Mouse (Y Cable) $2.99

I've used this one with my thinkpad and on an older toshiba and it works as advertised. I can't promise it works for other brands of laptops. On a newer thinkpad it wouldn't work consistently unless I connected it from power-on (sometimes, worked others). Anyway for $3+S&H it's probably worthy of a gamble.
