Would this coupon work for memory sticks (Sony memory cards for dig. cameras and all)? The only part I'm not sure about is that installation thing - I don't know if they have a way to charge for installing memory sticks into a dig. camera. If this works for memory sticks, I'm going to best buy today - I could use some more memory for my camera.

Edit: I know someone earlier talked about SD cards (I'm assuming the memory cards for cameras, not some obscure SD I"m unaware of) - any luck with that anyone?

BBY has Kingston 512MB DDR333 for desktop & laptop on sale this week, $54.99. Hit it up for those whose stores haven't caught on

I went to one last night and they had a notice by the ram saying the coupon was fradulent and made by spammers, etc., as others have mentioned. I probably could have tried to convince them it was legit, but didn't feel like it by then. Oh well.

If it was "fraudulant" and "made by spammers" -- it wouldn't be hosted on BB's website. And it also wouldn't work when the code is scanned in.

Seems like if you get someone saying that to you -- you could reply with "no! MY coupon is the REAL one -- NOT the one mentioned in that notice. If you don't believe me, just scan it!"

If they just said "it was an accident and we can't honor it" -- i'd be much more OK with it.
Having them lie just makes me want to go back and get more... and more.....

Has anyone tried this with any other RAM? I'm looking at <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7322328&type=product&produc
CategoryId=cat01170&id=1118844598377">this 1 GB stick</a>. I'm also a Mac user (this will be for my PowerBook), but if the math works out correctly, $150 + $30 - $90 = $90, still not a bad price for a 1GB stick of laptop RAM.

Any Mac users out there have any success with this yet?

Got it free with installion. No signs anywhere around the store or computer area about the coupon.

Made my mistake of going to the GS counter. Agent rung it up and scanned the coupon w/c worked. Boy was he surprised and said that I don't have to pay for RAM & install. Told the geek that I wanted to install SODIMM myself even if I "paid' for install fee. They insisted that they have to install the ram themselves since it was part of the coupon (RAM & Install - $90 off). Had to get the Dell Inspiron 8600 from the car. Waited about 30 minutes going around the store and talked with a former co-employee in the Appliance Dept.

Got back and signed all the paperwork. Agent said I could probably EBay the 256mb SODIMM they removed.

I'll return for another stick and have it done in the register.

Okay guys, here's what happened to me

I work @ BBY and I pulled out some RAM today to use the coupon. Well they came up to me asking if I was going to use a coupon and I said yes. Apparently because I'm using a genuine BBY coupon, which simply lacks the "must purchase w/computer disclaimer," I'm committing fraud  Fvckin' jackasses. They said they are not accepting the coupon anywhere, and I had to return the memory I got previously for free 'cuz they've been tracking the coupon. So I had my gf bring ONE back, which happened to be DOA, and gave it to them

Luckily I'm leaving Friday, or I would have left today after that bullsh!t. Its not FRAUD, its their own fvcking fault. They tried to tell me that the e-mail they got said it was altered on some "slickdeals" website, well I kindly informed them it was from a BBY site and that I wanted a copy of that e-mail they got. I got the copy of the e-mail and they all know that it was a coupon from the website that was missing the "must purchase with computer" disclaimer in the e-mail, those jackasses tried to lie to me.

Fvckin' a$$holes, fvck best buy :|

My Experience on 9/4/05:

I went in and grabbed a 512mb Kingston Ram Stick for $56 + $29 Install = $85.

1. The cashier called another cashier who said "oh you got this from your email? thats why it didn't say the restrictions" I then refered to the Report # and mentioned that I got it from BestBuy.com and NOT my email. I then asked for a manager.
2. The first manager came over and took the coupon and the page with the support #. I also showed him the URL that I printed the coupon off of bestbuy.com. He then called a second manager.
3. The second manager would not allow it unless I purchased atleast $90 in memory/install (See above $5 short). I grabbed a 256mb stick for $25 and a $35 hard drive (after rebate). He applied the $90 memory deal and the $20 hard drive deal. He did ask if I had my computer and I said I'd have to bring it in later.

All in all, I grabbed 256mb ram, 512mb ram and 120GB HD for $100 - $60 Rebates = $40.

Anyone have luck (good or bad) at the KENNEWICK, WASHINGTON store? It is the closest to me and still 90 miles away! I need a 1x512MB PC2700 for my new Compaq v2000z laptop arriving on Tuesday and a 512MB PC2700 for my homeoffice PC. I also have two other PCs that I could use a 512MB PC2700 and a 512MB PC3200 for. I am going to bring the laptop & homeoffice PC for a try Wednesday morning for the 2 stick max. If it works, I'll have my wife bring the other two comps later in the day after she picks the kids up from school. Hopefully I can just take the PC ram for a "come back for the install later appointment" and just put them in at home. What is the support# or Report# that you are using if they fight it? Any chance BB will honor the Staples $30 off $150 coupon it this deal does not work? 512MB PC3200 is $52 on newegg so no big sale without a coupon.

Interesting experience at the bb in Southfield, MI:

I tried to get the memory, but unfortunately all of the memory is behind the "retard" squad bench (probably because of the large amount of theft at the store). Anyway, I ask for the memory, and the guy tells me that the coupon is invalid. I ask why, and he says it was faked. Well...I tell him that it is off the bb website, so I don't see how it is fake. He leaves behind the bench, while I begin calling corporate.

He comes back 5 minutes later and gives me the same bs. They cannot take the coupon. Why? Well, after the same no, why, no why...5 times back and forth business, I still was unable to obtain an answer from the retards.

So I just get a hold of a rep. I explain the situation and she understands the issue with the coupon. She asks to speak with the guy. I try to hand him the phone but he refuses because he doesn't know who is on the other line. So she says that she can call the store herself. Meanwhile, a sales manager comes buy. Tells me the coupon was faked and information was removed from it. This is while I am on the phone with the corporate rep. She overhears everything and tells me it is true that this coupon original was intended to be used with a new computer purchase. But, since it was the fault of bb they decided to honor the coupon without a purchase of a computer.

Anyway, I try to have her call the store. Then the sales manager says, "I can talk to her, but we are not taking the coupon anyway." Well, at this point there is nothing that could be done, so I just tell her to file a complaint. I bet that is useless, but now I wish I asked for the names of those idiots working there. Just to make them feel a bit more insecure.

I still cannot understand what the hay is their problem. What is it to them to just give me the memory? Is it of any significance to try to please a customer?

I used to work for bb about 2 years ago for no more than 3 months. They make this into a competition. Yes they do loose money on the memory, but corporate, who is in charge of all stores probably has precedence.

Hmm...

I don't remember the last time I bought anything at normal price from best buy. Whenever that was, was probably the last time...

Naw, best buy doesn't honor other stores coupons. The support number and case number are in OP.

Ya, I would just walk out of the store with the memory and have them call police. There comminting fraud, so you commiting a misdemeanor won't hurt .

69.99 + 29.00 = 98.99 insta 90 off, then -20 mir ='s 10.00 in pocket!
YMMV.... I first tried this deal with 512mb SD card and got shot down -- partly because the cashier didn't know what to do with "installation" (never heard of "installation" for an SD card) -- and so she went and asked the geeks what to do.
I ended up getting 512mb PC ram.
I came back 2 days later for a pricematch to their $14.50 installation service, and while waiting in line I noticed the customer in front of me had an xD card -- with a "Let us install it" sticker on it. Soooo.... ymmv, i guess. Just keep emphasising that it says "Any memory..."

So you have a copy of an email from best buy corporate acknowledging that the coupon from the website is missing the the "must purchase computer" fine print?

update to my quest for a free stick of ram

went to the bb in citrus heights, ca
walked in picked up the ram

headed to the cashier and she rang up the merchandise and scanned the coupon
it didnt show up on her computer for some reason

she called her manager and the manager said oh this includes install so i said sure i brought along a customers laptop which was having issue anyway
a geek squad dood proceeded to tear the laptop down but i didnt care because its not my laptop anyway
i told him he could get to the memory from the keyboard heheh
anyhoo he puts the memory in and the laptop doesnt boot
i tell him hmmm i thought it would boot with the new memory i guess not
then i proceed to tell him that i'm going to buy the memory anyway because i would buy another laptop
he then takes the memory out and puts it back into the box

while this is happening the manager type is telling me that they received an email that there is a fraudulent coupon going around and that they received an email from corporate regarding this
she then proceeds to tell me that they will have to honor it
and then says she will create a gift card to offset the balance, i'm thinking what balance it comes out to zero
she also asked me where i found the coupon
i said oh it was on the bb website
she then brings me over to the computer and says can you show me where you found it
i then act dumb and she asks was it on a pop up window possibly
i was like umm sure i don't remember exactly but i think it was a pop up

another cashier rings me up with the coupon and goes wtf this is coming out to 0 balance
he tells the manager and she looks dumbfounded, she walks away tapping on her phone trying to call corporate
she then tells the cashier to void the last receipt and then do the gift card i'm goin they are going to honor this but they are running around in circles

about 15 minutes later she comes back tells the cashier to just ring it up even though it comes out to $0.00
she then thanks me for being patient and says thank you for shopping at bb

i walk out trying not to bust out in laughter because it actually worked!
i told about 4 other coworkers about this and they will do the same

thanks for posting this hehe

just got back from BB! THANKS OP! No hassles, but the guy at the desk whispered to the head geek squad guy and I heard him say that someone else had come in the other day with the same coupon. Must have been a fellow AT'er

I love getting revenge on BB for them screwing me over on rebates!

well dang... that same ram i "paid" $95 for a week and a half ago, is now $55...

Any advice on "price-matching" opportunities?
My receipt says:
(from a week and a half ago)
Kingston 512 ddr pc2700 ram $4.99
Reg. 94.99 with 90 dollars-off coupon

Any experience confusing the heck out of the Returns/Exchanges geeks?
(chances of walking out with $40 cash?)

edit: my morals might get in the way... but it would be pretty funny. however, they've certainly screwed me over for more than $40 in rebates over the years....

I got the same fraudulent coupon crap. BS. I told them that the coupon is from BestBuy's website. They said that someone 'hacked into' their website to have the coupon sent out. I asked why it's still on their website, and if the same person hacked into their POS system to put in the sku. Tried calling CSR, but the corporate office is closed. Bah. They just looked at me with that blank stare...

I went into the BestBuy in Las Cruces, NM today and had an interesting experience. I go up with my coupon - the manager says no go. I call corporate, spoke to a girl named Karla, she said they made a formal decision at corporate that the stores needed to honor the coupon so she calls up the store manager...he still tells her that he won't accept the coupon. Her supervisor talks to him...he still won't take it. So while all this is going on, they tell me on the phone that I'll get a $90 GC for my time. After the store manager gets off the phone and tells me no way, the girl on the phone calls me back and tells me to buy the ram, and the install - fax the receipt to them and they'll mail me a check for the exact value as well as giving me the GC. Oh and she said all the money would be coming out of the Las Cruces store no matter what for the difficulty.

So 1 hour worth of time = $90 check + $90 GC - not bad if you ask me.
