If I had an existing stick of Crucial pc2700 ..I'd get another from Crucial ..but that's just me..I'd try to match same with same..Kingston is not the manufacturer..so what's in the pkg(mem chips) is YMMVor you could grab this single stick 512MB anyway.. <edit> your ? #2 hearsay is horsepucky ..if you get the 512 put in slot 0/1 and the 256MB in slot 1/2 ..depends on mobo manufacturer as to 1st slot being marked as 0 or 1

Maybe Kingston is slightly less of a toss up? I lump RAM into 2 categories...1) Overclocking RAM, you need to know everything possible (timings, CAS, CL, etc.) and 2) Wife RAM. Whatever hand-me-down computer I give to my wife This falls into the category of Wife RAM

i had a stick w/ infineon, however, it was doa.
after requesting a rma, it came as a generic kingston chip, oh well...

yeah, they seem to be all kingston chips now, still hot though.

I have this same stick that I bought from Newegg a while back. Running @ 200mhz, with default timings with Thermaltake Copper Heat Spreaders on them.

I'm waiting for Newegg to get them back in stock so I can order it with another set of spreaders

just so you guys will know, not all Kingston Value Ram are they same, a friend of mine ordered one
and his has the Infineon chips on the module, 2 sticks I ordered last month has Samsung chips and
the other 2 sticks I orderd last week as well as a few other sticks my friend ordered recently, I can't
really tell who made the chip b/c it has kingston marking on it and no other info, i suspect it was
oemed by some taiwanese 2nd rate chip maker and maybe that's why Kingston was able to slash
price this much compare to other name brand.

I ordered some of this last week. Both sticks were Infineon. One of the sticks would not work in my motherboard (would cause reboots, etc), but the other one seemed fine. Called Kingston tech support and they said they are no longer supporting the Asus A7N8X with this memory and they would refund my purchase price for the memory. [Had to go to Kingston because Googlegear does not handle warranty issues]. I find it hard to believe the memory itself was DOA, but I tend to believe there is a compatbility issue with the motherboard --- hence Kingston's move to not support the motherboard with this memory. I thought other A7N8X owners should be aware. I sent my Kingston back and got Crucial.
