My wife just asked me that question, %$#@! it's 1:30 AM and I'm finally going to bed only to get 4 hours of sleep, great.

I just read about 200 UseNet NewsGroup posts on rechargeable batteries and damn am I confused. Think I'll still get the NEW 8 Gold Peak AA 1800 mAH's with MAHA charger and car adapter for $39.95 from Sunnbattery.com's eBay auction.

The battery is NOT RECHARGABLE!!! It is clearly printed on it, "Caution: Do not recharge"

I am curious though, would there be any problems using regular AA alkaline batteries? Aside from not lasting as long...

I can't vouch for the Kodak software running on those crappy operating systems, but

I am able to download pictures from it, and the first few things I turned up in a google search sounded like I would have trouble with linux... For any linux users here, grab the NEWEST version of gphoto2 you can. This camera uses PTP protocol which is just starting to be implemented in the code. (The version shipping with Mandrake 8.1 does not support it) Oh yeah, and they weren't BSing when they said "make rpm" option is broken...I thought it might have been fixed since last November when it was noted...

Hmm...anyone verify it works with XP out of curiosity?

I have a question for those that bought this camera. Some places on the net list this camera as having a 10 second self-timer but other places list it as not having a self-timer at all-what's the real story?
