UPDATE:: THE PRICE IS NOW $52.62 SO GET YOUR CASH BACK IF YOU BOUGHT THIS WITHIN THE PAST 30 DAYS.

Looks like a pretty good price on the trilogy, especially for the special extended edition box set. Checked ebay and saw it was about $70 so it should be a decent price.

I would pay probably $60 to see gollum catching the fish.

Seems pretty good to me. Picked up the Matrix Ultimate Collection for less than $40 too (plus A9 instant rewards).

I too bought all three individually as they came out. Must have spent around 110 on them. Anyway, I don't care, they are worth it.

The documentaries really conveys the amount of work and craftsmanship that went into making these movies; the crew and cast really cared about making good stuff and doing it right. It's the sh%t. Great deal.

Yeah there's like what, 3 commentary audio tracks? LOTS of good stuff. Plus a little easter egg video on almost each dvd of the EE movies.
What I thought about it from listening to one of them is how much is MISSING from even the extended edition. They are always mentioning some footage that didn't make it even into that version for one reason or another. Like how they say they did multiple versions of entering into shelob's cave. I'm fairly sure that all that missing footage isn't very interesting (probably its mostly just differant word variations in the script, or minor things like that) but it would be nice to have some of that in a deleted scenes thing even if its not integrated into an extended movie cut.

Me, I think I'll hold out for a HD version on blu ray in a couple years. OMG that will kick butt.

I liked the first two installments of the trilogy so much more than the third part, but still, the third was an awesome movie! Even a crappy director like Peter Jackson couldn't ruin Tolkien's material.

I would disagree that he is a crappy director. He is only a crappy writer. His directing for LOTR was superb, although I do regret the changes made to the ending of the trilogy.

OT, I know, but I just can't help it. This has to be the greatest Trilogy ever!! Just before Christmas, my wife and I had a mini-marathon and watched all the extended versions in 2 nights after work!

BIG time... the weakest part of the movies. I mean ROTK ends like 5 times! And the Scouring of the Shire - Where? I so thought I was going to be able to see that.

And another bump for a good deal.

I can't stress enough how wonderful the "extras" are on these sets. The amount of effort put into these movies (and shown in detail on these discs) is 100% UNRIVALED. Great stuff if you enjoy behind-the-scenes things.
