Damn... Now if I had only waited an extra year I would have saved like $30 bucks... oh well. Good Deal OP. Thanks!

BIG time... the weakest part of the movies. I mean ROTK ends like 5 times! And the Scouring of the Shire - Where? I so thought I was going to be able to see that.

And another bump for a good deal.

Hmmm...looks like I should read the book a bit. I must say I wasn't satisfied with the ending of it all, and I guess it wasn't Tolkien's fault?

I bought all three separately. I just need the box that comes with this!

I'm dying to watch these in HD.

I would pay probably $60 to see gollum catching the fish.

Can they make these in HD? Or did they have to film it in some special way first to make it HD? I am just wondering why they haven't had HD out already for us to buy...

I can't see why they wouldn't have filmed it in a way such that they could make it HD...they're not that old. But I am not sure. I tried to find out on wikipedia, but couldn't find any info. Ran across this this interesting thingy on HD TV though

I bought all mine seperate too. but a while ago you could order the box from newline's website for $3, so does that mean i have everything that comes in this pack?

does anyone know if you can still order the empty box from newline for the people who already bought all 3?

edit- i just looked at the link, it is a different looking box, i like the one i got WAY better.
its darker, and matches the look of the individual packages better.

I couldnt find the original post about where to get them (apparently ROTK had a little flyer inside the packaging to order it)

but here are pics

Got it shortly after the promote started. Don't remember how long it took, but I think it was a short wait. My 3 LOTR EE DVDs fit in the sleeve perfectly. Maybe I'll take some pics.

I see that this week Best Buy has the LOTR movies for $20 each. Price almost as good and faster than online and if you don't need the box. I was surprised to see the NON-Extended widescreen version of the trilogy for $25 today at Costco ($40 online).

Costco also has some nice prices on some movies too including Cinderella Man for $14, Forrest Gump for $8, and $5 movies like Monty Python's Meaning of Life, Love Actually, and Mulholland Dr et al. Must be moving old stock before Blue-Ray and HD versions come out.

One of the reviews says 11 hours.

Do these have the theatre release and extended edition on the disks, or just extended?

I went to BestBuy tonight to pick up RotK since it was in the ad, but they didn't have any copies in-store. The Two Towers was the only EE they had.

Just checked Amazon and it's $19 there, gotta find something else to bump me up to $25 for free shipping now

If you gottan have it now (seems that Amazon is taking thier sweet ass time shipping) Best Buy Sunday Ad is selling them seperatly for $20 each which will be close to the OP $58. Granted $2+tax more but you can have them in hand right away without waiting.

I wish I haddent ordered them and got them from BB now because I ordered atleast a week ago and even though it showed in stock when I did they havent shipped yet.

Mine came a few days ago...took about a week and a half to get to me. The wait almost makes the DVDs even better? I dunno...

Crap that sucks. I asked about one on here a couple times before but never heard anything about that. So there's nowhere to get one now? I dont see one on amazon or newline's shop.

If you haven't read the books, do yourself a favor and pick them up at your local used bookstore. You can probably get them for $5-10 for all 3. I saw these movies once, and that was enough. I can live with a little editing, but most of the changes that Jackson made were purely idiotic. They lend nothing to the movie and take away from Tolkien's original vision. Save yourself $60 and read the books.

Amazon dropped the price to $52.62, so I cancelled my old order and placed a new one at the lower price. (I would have placed the new order first; however, I used some gift certificates for the order and wanted to "recycle" them.) Don't know when Amazon will raise the price again. For those who already got it you can get a credit if 30-days haven't passed. If I had any chance of getting my order shipped soon I just ruined it now . Those who don't want to cancel their order can probably just email CS to adjust their order.
